Last night really wasn't different than past years at all (atmosphere aside)
http://mb24.scout.com/fkansasinsiderfrm3.showMessage?topicID=81297.topic
K-State has been as close or closer to beating ku than last night's parformance in 11 of the past 24 games in Manhattan. If they want to think last night was soooooo different, let them.
Date W/L Score

ku hasn't been this good since the 02-03 seasons, and even that's debatble. The last 3 losses to ku in Bramlage have been to a "4" seed type of team.
This is a legit 1 seed team.
-
Its amazing that just a handful of points could change "the streak" drastically. :yuck:
-
Let me also add the last three years there was a point in the game that ku led by 15+.
-
We are better than we have been, it just so happens that ku is real good this year (which is why its ridiculous they won't win the B12). Thankfully, this looks like it will be the last year ku will be this good for a long time, and KSU is only going to get better.
-
The difference is we stayed within 9 the whole game pretty much, and led for a lot of it. Also, we shot poorly and ku played well, and they didn't kill us. That's a difference. In years past, we only got close when ku ho-hummed their way through the game and we shot well.

They led by 12 last night.

Not sure what your point is. They led by 12 with about 4/5 minutes left.
The last 3 years they've lead by 15-18 points at some point during the 1st half and early 2nd half.
The only reason the scores are close during the 04-06 years were worthless comebacks with a few minutes left. I remember once Massey scoing a 3 point play to cut it to 5 once, but nothing closer.
This is all irrelevant, we shouldn't judge the progress of this program by the "ku home game"

3P% 24
FT% 59
TO's 16
Surprisingly those stats belong to ku.

Now do REB and FG% for both teams and the story will be told.

That one stung. Yeah, they were a lot better than we were. But we had a chance if Rhodes would have knocked down one of a couple of late open looks from the top of the key.

True.

Exactly. Spot on, trips.
He is trying to get us for our Mangino vs Wooldridge comparisons. It's hilarious, and sad.
-

The rebounding and FG% numbers are why ku won by 9. The 3 pt FG%, FT%, and turnovers are the indicators that ku didn't play especially well last night.
I can't imagine what you saw going into this game that made you think that KSU had a reasonable chance to win the game.
-
In how many games were we winning at half time though??
-
2003 and 2001?
-
Again, this is all something that's not going to change overnight. JCCC-L has two probations and a 20 year head start on Huggins.
You can't miss all the open shots that KSU missed last night with the type of players KSU has and beat ku. You either have to have guys who can hit those shots which is preferable, or have guys who can board and follow.
As stated Hoax is just trying to stir the pot saying nothing has really changed.
Well, look at last years Big 12 North:
KSU-Fired Coach
NU-Fired Coach
ISU-Fired Coach
MU-Fired Coach
CU-Should've fired coach
That's 8 games against suck ass teams right there, how many wins did KSU have . . . 6. KSU also lost to Baylor.
Huggins clearly making progress in a weak conference . . . Mangino, going no where in a weak conference.

With around 13 minutes left Collison had just picked up his 4th foul and the Cats led 51-47. Ellis and DeJesus were rocking the 'Gon.
"Yeah, I was worried," said senior forward Nick Collison, Kansas University's national basketball player-of-the-year-award candidate who headed to the bench with his fourth foul early in the second half of the Jayhawks' meeting Saturday with Kansas State. "We were not playing real well when I went out."
When Collison came back in with a few minutes left, the Hawks led 80-60. :'(

Last night with 13:30 to go, Dave hit 2 FTs that made the score 37-34.
Ksu was 1-12 FG at that point, so that would have been 11-42 (26%) for the game and we were only down 3
We had played pretty dang D to that point, holding ku to just 37 pts for 26 1/2 minutes (a pace for 55 pts). We shoot 38-40% to that point in the game and we have 11-13 more pts and could have been up by 8 to 10.
Collins took over at that point. He scored 14 pts in the next 9-10 minutes
-
So was hox indicating that over the past 20 years even though we've varied in the closeness of our losses, ku has had the better team? If so, spot on analysis. That guy's good. :jerkoff:

The point was that ku didn't play very well last night. But with the kind of talent they have, you can afford to have an "off" night and still win games.

I remember Collison picking up that 4th foul vividly....it was VERY loud in there...then a guy by the name of Kirk Hinrich just took over.

Good one. Seriously. This coming from the team that lost to powerhouses Colorado State, New Mexico, and Nebraska.

are you sure it was oral roberts, it thought it was bucknell, or was it bradley? i can't remember.
