Title: Huggs holding his cards?

I once watched one of the best coaches I ever covered call dive play after dive play in an overtime loss to a team he knew he was going to meet again in the playoffs because No. 1, he wasn't going to show anything he might need later, and No. 2, he wanted the motivational edge in the one that really mattered. ...

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't sell short the notion that K-State coach Bob Huggins had similar motives when he benched his best players once the Wildcats were down 20 at Kansas. ...

I can say with certainty that he already was thinking about the rematch that night. Asked how the Cats had botched their game plan, Huggins said, "We've gotta play them again. Let them figure it out rather than read it in the paper." ...

The one that really matters is a week from today, when ku goes for a 24th straight win in Manhattan ...

Ah . . . no, it doesn't work like that.

I know, but ku will now think they can just roll us. It was arguably their easiest game of the conference season.

Hoskins played 6 minutes the 2nd half (23 minutes overall)
Harris played 1 minute (16 minutes overall!)
Akeem 4 minutes (10 minutes overall!)
Cartier 24 minutes overall.

Was it a plan, or Huggie just being ticked off with the effort, or were those guys sick??

I keep hearing that everybody on the bench last Saturday was sneezing and sniffling around like they all still had colds.

I would love to believe this.

I think it was more he wrote it off as a loss at halftime and used it as a "motivational" ploy with Wright, Hoskins, and Harris.

I'm sure he went into the game with everything he had.

Of course, but playing "DK" 16 minutes just made it worse.

You know ku will somewhat overlook us on the 19th.

reminds me of snyder keeping the playbook simple, predictable and boring, only to unleash all the doozers against the corn/ut/ou later in the season.

reminds me of a delusional fanbase who thinks that their coach would actually let his team take a 30 point demoralizing assrape because he wanted to "win the one that mattered".

14 minutes in the second half.  BH used the second half for motivation.

Reminds me of how Snyder could never win the big game.

I think he did pack it in as a loss after the first few minutes of the second half.  I would think he used it both as a motivational tool and let ku figure out how to play against Kent for matchup #2.

dk played 16 minutes because he has superior footwork and huggs really likes what he sees in dk.

My guess is he was hoping to speed up the game so he could get home to watch our sister school Duke play against their archrival UNC.

Mr. Caywood, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent blog were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone who reads your blog is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
