It was early and I woke up hearing it on 810, but apparently a fan was laying into Huggs pretty good near the tunnel on the way to the locker room and they briefly exchanged words. Anybody see this? I couldn't see the tunnel from vantage point in the house
-
Wouldn't surprise me. You could see KSU fans leaning over the side celebrating with KSU players as they were going into the locker room after the game last year so I have no doubt a ku fan was able to get close to HCBH as he was headed to the locker room.
-
Huggins had to be held back from going after the guy. Could have gotten real ugly...
-
Yeah.....That would have looked really good.
-
No kidding? This is going to be great.
-
It would have guaranteed that he would never leave KSU unless we fired him.
So there's kind of a silver lining there.
-

Please elaborate.
Was this after the game? Halftime? Etc...
-
So lets see Adult ku fans ripping on their kids as they leave the court last Saturday night.
ku fans, and I can assume, probably an adult acting like an a-hole to Huggins last night.
Bull$hit chant, A$$hole chant . . . real classy crowd they got going over there at KthUg.
-
Yea, it was post game. The early guys on 810 said some guy was leaning over the ropes and giving it to Huggins something fierce and Huggs said something to the effect: "What's your problem"?!! Players and assistant coaches all stood there for a few seconds eyeballing the guy before cooler heads prevailed.
-
After the game, as the teams were heading into the lockerroom.
My thoughts on the this fan incident, and the ku fans cheering "DUI", and the "Hugs and Thugs" crap with him behind bars printed in the ku student newspaper yesterday all go like this- he's the wrong muthafuka to mess with. He took all of this in and it won't be forgotten.
By the way, I seriously wanted to beat some of my ku co-workers this morning, until I realized that their classlessness was a good thing.
-
piss...the ku wagon here is bad too.
they could NOT get over the bennett thing.
bail me out of jail if i end up going?
TIA
-
I mentioned in an early thread..that ku's security around the locker room sucks and all they have for boundaries are tension barrier ropes...so a fan can get as close as they want with a stupid elastic rope holding them back...I think Huggs and the team would've took on that fan if some other folks hadn't stepped in.
-
Now, ask yourself . . . would there ever be a KthUg fan waiting by the KSU locker room to verbally assault Jim Wooldridge, Tom Asbury or Dana Altman??
Is this what happens to a fanbase at a school that has Mc D AA's all over the place and yet they can't get out of the 1st round of the NCAA tourny?? They have such low self esteem that they verbally abuse their players after they lose a game, and verbally assault oppossing coaches by the dressing room??
Sad . . .

Amen. I don't know how he'll do it because I didn't follow him in the past, but I would guess he will take a few opportunities to press their buttons when the time is appropriate.
Do the Cincy guys have any good stories about him getting into it with Xavier or Louisville? Jarr? Snart? Is this equivalent to how his rivals treated him at Cincy?

If, by some chance, he hadn't taken the rivalry with ku to heart...he has now..
It just got personal. He will not forget.
I like it.
It would be fun to see Huggins make Self his own personal bitch in the future.
-
Someday, soon I hope, Huggins will have an opportunity to RUTS, and I'm sure he'll do just that.
-

UL fans are pretty good people, they are mostly positive about the Cards, versus being negative about the opposition. XU fans were probaly the most angry and bitter, and hate Huggs the worst, but are weak nerds too. Charlotte fans were the worst. They actually used to throw batteries and spit out beer at the UC team and Huggs. Danny Fortson actually speared one of Charlottes players one year for throwing a punch at a UC player. That was pretty cool. I can only imagine how bad it would get if KSU went into Halton Arena now after the Beasley saga.
-
Jarr, that just makes me want to schedule Charlotte!
As for ku, their time will come. The loss bothered me a little bit, but my confidence in the bright future tempered it some. Sometime (soon I hope), Huggs is going to make the ku faithful sorry they ever f*cked with him. And who's going to be the most surprised by it?--the ku faithful, because they're so full of themselves. God, redemption is going to be sweet when the time comes.
-
It really didn't take huggie long to hate ku as much as the rest of us do!
:forked:
-
In the Manhattan Mercury it says that he took a step up into the stands to confront this fan. This is starting to bother me for some reason.
-
I've read like 50 pages in his book and he already talked about a confrontation he had with a fan.
-
Book?
-
"Pressed for Sucess"
-
Where can I get a copy of that?
-
The only thing I heard from a ku fan today was: "Wow, you guys are really bad... and we didn't even play well."
Happy revenging (I know its not a word), Coach Huggins.

I'll have to get me a copy of that
-
Ya I'm half way through the book right now. He told one story about a guy that was heckling him and saying things about his wife at one of his first jobs and he went up into the stands and just sat next to the guy. He told him that if he wanted to say things about him then that's fine, but if he says another thing about his wife he is going to beat him to within an inch of his life............the man stopped heckling.
Read the book and your love for Huggs will grow immensely.
You'll also realize how much of an amazing athlete he was growing up.

I have a specially autographed leather bound copy of it.

I hope he chokes the @#%$ out of him next time.
Edit: I wonder how large the mess was that was left in that fan's seat.
-
I can see Huggy as an intimdating person. He would look more of the part if he lost some lbs....
Just worry about his health, is all.
-
He's all in now. I dont see him going anywhere. He played down the rivalry thing, but now he understands what a sh#t hole of a University they have over there.
God bless Bob Huggins. :woohoo:
-
I don't understand your logic. A smaller person would be more intimidating??
-
I was in Vegas sitting two rows behind the USC fan that was riding him the whole game.
At one point Huggs turns around, looks right at the guys and says, "I don't go to McDonalds and yell at you in your place of work, don't yell at me for doing my job". Dude was absolutely speachless.
Literally one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed.
-
You know it's pretty bad when Dave "held it I've got to get Lew Perkin's dick out of my mouth" Armstrong is ripping on ku as he did early yesterday morning on 810. Said the crowd and antics was as low class as he's every seen.
-
If ku was low class last night, they've got to be doubly low class for a real rivalry game that actually means something.
Poor MU.
-
Huggs is so sensitive
-
I can't wait to hear what Huggins has to say about that place before next year's game. If he really wants to push their buttons he just needs to make a few comments about Allen Fieldhouse being an out of date dump. Maybe lump it in with some of the crappier venues he's been to.
"It holds a few more fans than the Bison Sports Arena at NDSU, but it's not quite as nice."
"We had a few guys slip last year. I think the roof leaks."
"KSU upgraded from Ahearn 20 years ago. Considering that Allen was a slightly larger replica of Ahearn, I'm surprised that they still can't raise the money to come up with something better."
"It's really no wonder Roy Williams left. Haven't you seen the Dean Smith Center?"
-
or this.."its just....gay."
-
Huggs is like 6'4" plus, right? I believe even after the heart attack some yrs back - with all the piss and vinegar that he has, he would whoop up on that FiretrUCKING A$$HOLE! I can't wait until Gay U comes to Huggs House!
-
try 6'8ish touchdown tommy.
count the hair.

Absolutely not. This is a good thing.

This thread/topic is reminding me of one of the better movie quotes of all time:
Look, mister, there's... two kinds of dumb, uh... guy that gets naked and runs out in the snow and barks at the moon, and, uh, guy who does the same thing in my living room. First one don't matter, the second one you're kinda forced to deal with.
We have to realize wednesday was a sigh of relief for ku fans. Outside of our early season slump, lately ku fans have had all kinds of things thrown in their faces. "K-State will never hire Huggins", "K-State won't be able to sign any of these Top 10 guys Huggins is in on", K-State will have to wait a few years b/c they're really going to suck until Huggins gets his kids in", "K-State will never beat Texas" and on and on. When we fell on our face wednesday in Lawrence, ku fans could relax for a moment, but the reality of the situation still caused some to go off like this fella did toward Coach after the game. The same guy was probably one of the many ku fans saying "you all should keep Wooly, look at the talent he's brought in, he beat us, and he really has you guys on the cusp." Then we went and upped the ante and whether they want to admit it or not we are a threat. And we looked like we might be on the edge of being a major threat much earlier than any ku fan (or K-State fan for that matter) could've ever imagined. That's what led to this altercation, nasty posters from the school newspaper, and DUI chants from their students. For now we have to let ku fans have this one, their brief reprieve; but we can rest in the knowledge that Coach will have us competing with and beating ku soon, perhaps as early as in another week and a half.

Well said, ksu_fan. Well said.
-
ku fans invested a lot of time and energy convincing themselves and anyone who would listen that ksu could never recruit on the same level or play at the same level as them. What huggins is doing at ksu is putting egg on a lot of people's faces and they do not like it at all.

Now...if we can just find a way to play at the same level.
-
Would ku fans rather fight Huggins or Frank?

Would ku fans rather fight Huggins or Frank?
I wouldn't want to fight Frank :ohno:
Huggins = :bitchslap: or :drink:
-
I miss Huggins. Let's win one for him.
Or for Serge.
Or maybe we should avenge the disrespect they showed Jason Bennett.
Whatever.
Just win.

Wasn't that fan called out by name in a KC Star article? Then, wasn't there a follow up article about the vulgarity of the Muck Fizzou t-shirts and the language used by the fans?
