While our Big 12 dreams (which were probably delusional in the first place) might be over, we are still in excellent shape going down the stretch. Barring an implosion, we still have a great shot at the Top 4 in the league and a bye on thursday in OKC.
KSU games left: CU, @NU, ISU, ku, @CU, @OSU, OU.
UT games left: ISU, OSU, @BU, Tech, OU, aTm, @ku.
OU games left: @BU, @ISU, aTm, @MU, UT, ku, @KSU.
OSU games left: Tech, @UT, MU, aTm, @Tech, KSU, @BU, @NU.
Tech games left: @OSU, @aTm, CU, @UT, OSU, BU, @ISU.
Cats still have to be shooting for a minimum of 5-2 in our last 7. Very doable, but certainly not automatic. The great thing is we completely control our destiny for the 3rd spot in the league; we've already beat UT and have both OSU and OU left on the schedule. We've also got 4 games vs our north brethren and 1 vs ku. I can't look at ku right now and think that's a likely win, so that means 5-1 vs those other 6. Toughest games @OSU, @NU, and OU. Go 2-1 in those 3, beat ISU, and sweep CU and we're in great shape.
Even a 4-3 finish might set us up well for the 4th spot. UT, OU, OSU, and Tech all have aTm left, so that bodes well for us. UT and OU have ku left, again good for us. Tech has a brutal schedule over the next 4 that could bury them. OSU has a decent schedule, but they might be running out of gas with their short bench. I'd say outside of UT, OU appears to have stepped up to be the biggest threat in our quest for a top 4 finish. It will be interesting to see OU and OSU finish b/c neither team has lost at home in the league, but neither has won on the road. Our road record will be the key to how we finish in the league.
***Disclaimer: Some of this doesn't fit into the Hugg's "win all 7" philosophy, but I'm trying to be a realistic fan. Huggs needs to continue to tell his kids to win all 7, but I'm trying to keep it real here. :) ***
