I think the operative word is "assume" . . . it's certainly not idiotic to think that KSU could be in the tourny if the season ended today.

Hey genius, if the season ended today, KSU has the equivalent of a 21-10 & 10-6 record. No Big 12 team has been left out of the dance with a record like that.

So, a team that's currently 56th in the RPI, 49th in Sagarin and currently in the upper half of the Big 12 couln't "think" of being in the NCAA tourny if the season ended today.

I'm now dumber for having read that thread.
First of all, KSU is currently tied for fourth place in the conference standings.
Speaking historically from the Big XII conference, one would think that KSU would have a shot at getting in today if the thought was that our current record is equivalent to 21 and 10 wins.
Unfortanately, a pretty good argument could be made that KSU would be the first such team to be left out, thanks to a few other factors: the logjam in fourth place, the lack of any win against a team in the RPI top 50, and the better pub that OSU and Tech have received to this point. Let's not forget that we've flopped pretty much every time we've been on national TV this year. On the other hand, eveyone saw Tech, who we're tied with, come into Manhattan and win. Everyone saw OSU pull off a nice win against Texas.

rpi 56, 0-3 vs top 50 rpi teams, 2 losses against rpi 50-100 teams, 1 loss against a 100+ rpi team. not even close.
the only think ksu has going for them right now is that their bad losses were early in the season and on the road. that will help if they finish strong. winning 4 straight against 100+ rpi teams doesnīt count as finishing strong.

winning 5 straight games against subpar competition has really given our fanbase a confidence boost. I believe it was Fan who pointed out that this was going to happen.

Nobody is taking anything that's been done to date as a forgone conclusion that KSU will make the NCAA tourny.
Anybody who says that if the season ended today that KSU couldn't even THINK about the NCAA tourny is an absolute idiot.

i exaggerated a little for effect. but still, ksu really isnīt on the bubble yet. uab got a gift that in 05, their resume was very poor. richmond had a significantly better record than ksu right now (2 good wins, only one bad loss, a fair number of 50-100 wins). 47 instead of 56.
lunardi didnīt have ksu in his last 8 out last week. the nu win at home wonīt move them into it, although if you add in an mu win then it should be getting close.

what effect were you going for?
fyi our rpi right now is 49 not 56
my opinion is that we would be a bubble team if the season ended after a victory over mizzou on wed.

You want us to give them truly free reign and see what the difference would be? We've banned so many ku fans over the years it's absurd. The problem is ku's Scout board is its flagship, meaning there are way too many ku posters to go around.
K-State fans are given much more leeway than opposing fans.
