Fans only play defense.

Assumption:  students = fans.

I do think fans make a difference with officials.  Officials are more likely to give a couple home court calls if they are afraid that people want to run onto the court and punch them.  Drunken crazy students are the wildcard.

Well there's the solution to the attendence problem.  Offer free Natty Lite for every student attendance and the student section would be overflowing*

*may reduce attendance and increase b******* by the bluehairs

Huggins is fond of saying he's yet to see an opposing fan make a stop on defense or make a free throw. But the past two weeks, he has chided K-State students for not showing up for games in which they've already purchased tickets.

Why? Presumably because he's seeking a home-court advantage.

One that he denies exists elsewhere.

I'd like to see a story digging into the state of the current Big XII basketball conference:  why there aren't North/South divisions like there are in football, why we don't play a rotational schedule like football but instead play one game against all South teams (even though there isn't a south) and the problems this creates (see ku getting rolled by UT last year and then sharing the conference title), the inequities within the current format (strong south vs. weak north) , etc etc etc.

Just an idea.

Working on a few people. Hearing some names... What do you all know about Kenneth Kadji? Plays for IMG/Pendleton. Big kid who the staff is reportedly interested, which would make sense since IMG/Pendleton is playing Notre Dame Prep in the Bram on Feb. 25...

Do you know where Huggs went last Monday?

They've been high on Kadji for a while.

Well, I have very little to stay on top of.

You probably need a recruiting correspondent.

kadji is my favorite.  lots of angles to that story - ksuīs florida pipeline, ksu and prep schools, the game in bramledge thing.  the story would write itself.

willie warren would be a great article.  i donīt know that he is seriously interested in ksu, but he is awesome because he comes up with something completely different in every recruiting update.

evans.  what the hell is going on?

You're hired. Seriously, I've made some headway on this stuff. I might have something next week - actually, no, football signing day stuff is next week - but definitely something in the coming weeks.

What about Ray Shipman?

Ray Shipman's a football player - a lot of Hugigns current recruits play or played football.

Terrel Pryor, Shipman, a guy named Jerel Stephenson, and a couple others (I think).  Might be an interesting future angle.

Stunner, I'm here to please.

Just spoke with Shipman. He says he speaks with Frank Martin all of the time. He hasn't been offered, but he believes it's just a matter of time. Right now, he's been offered by G'Tech, Miami and Clemson. He likes K-State's style of play and he is being led to believe he could make an early impact in Manhattan. His dad, also named Ray, apparently knows Frank Martin well from when Martin was a high school coach in the area. That connection, he said, would make K-State a favorable spot. Even without an offer, he says K-State is "easily" in his Top 5.

My work here is done. For now...

Do you know anything about Chris Harper?  Supposedly he is supposed to be a 4 star, and we are his only offer.  Hear he has a bad attitude.  Maybe something on DeMarcus Cousins?

For basketball, two top 50 prospects in 2008 will make me happy.  I don't think we'll get another top ten prospect for...hmmm...another year maybe?

Fans also get angry when you bend 'em over and break it off. Watch your back Mr. Huggins.
