As of now, Big 12 standings look like this:
Big 12 All
Texas Tech 4-1 14-5
Kansas 4-1 17-3
Texas A&M 4-1 15-3
Texas 4-1 14-5
Oklahoma St. 3-2 17-3
Kansas State 3-2 14-6
Oklahoma 3-3 11-7
Iowa State 2-3 10-8
Nebraska 1-3 12-6
Missouri 1-4 12-6
Baylor 1-5 11-8
Colorado 1-5 5-11
This next week really gives the top half of the league a chance to seperate from the bottom half nearing the midway point, and could set up a big match-up for us going to Austin if we can get two wins...
Schedule for the next week: (projections in bold, granted there will probably be a surprise or two)
Sat., Jan. 27 Colorado at Kansas* ESPN Plus AF 12:30 p.m.
Oklahoma at Texas A&M* ESPN RA 1:00 p.m.
Texas Tech at Missouri* ESPN Plus MA 3:00 p.m.
Baylor at Texas* ESPN2 EC 5:00 p.m.
Nebraska at Kansas State* FSNMW BC 5:00 p.m.
Iowa State at Oklahoma State* ESPN Plus GIA 7:00 p.m.
Mon., Jan. 29 Kansas at Nebraska* ESPN BD 8:00 p.m.
Tue., Jan. 30 Longwood at Oklahoma LNC 7:00 p.m.
Colorado at Baylor* FSNRM/FSNSW FC 7:30 p.m.
Wed., Jan. 31 Iowa State at Texas A&M* ESPNU RA 7:00 p.m.
Missouri at Kansas State* ESPN Plus/ESPNU BC 8:00 p.m.
Texas at Texas Tech* ESPN2 USA 8:00 p.m.
If that would happen, the standings would look like this:
Big 12 All
Texas Tech 6-1 16-5
Kansas 6-1 19-3
Texas A&M 6-1 17-3
Texas 5-2 15-6
Kansas State 5-2 16-6
Oklahoma St. 4-2 18-3
Oklahoma 3-4 12-8
Iowa State 2-5 10-10
Baylor 2-6 12-9
Nebraska 1-5 12-8
Missouri 1-6 12-8
Colorado 1-7 5-13
Then we'd have a shot to go to Texas and get to 6-2 at the midway point in the league, at worst 5-3. Our non-ku north brethren would be in big trouble, and we'd still be in sight of the top of the league. Its fun to look at projections with K-State being in the top 4 or 5 of this league. Granted, this is just fan stuff and you never know what could happen, but its nice for there to be some hope and anticipation for KSU basketball.

I don't really see this as being "seperation week" quite yet. I understand where you're going with it since we're all log jammed because of the apparent parity within the league that no one foresaw, but looking at the league schedule at www.big12sports.com, I don't see any seperation taking place anytime soon (unless we start seeing some major upsets, or unless TT starts playing down to the level most expected them to in the first place). Unfortunately it looks to me like we won't see any break from this log jam until later in February, specifically the week of 2/19 begining with our win at home vs. ku. There are a lot of big match ups within that week that could dictate how the rest of the Big XII plays out.

thanks for doing this. I was just thinking about what the league standings would be after the next two games. OSU is a good team, they just play in the South, which is why I think the Big XII can get six teams in.
-
Yeah, there is still going to be a logjam and its probably more accurate to say the top 7 will be seperating from the bottom 5. And there could be big seperation from our north brethren, three could be sitting with 1 win and the other with 2. That said, there is still a bunch of games to play and a ton of shuffling will likley take place from here on out, namely in the middle to top half. Its going to be fun to watch.

One game at a time is for players and coaches.
As fans we need to be in the business of wild speculation and positive expectations so when they are not met we can have a meltdown. Especially in the messageboard world. :)

Conference home records since big 12 inception (AKA post to further show my kstate basketball penis)
96-97: 3-5
97-98: 6-2
98-99: 6-2
99-00: 2-6
00-01: 2-6
01-02: 6-2
02-03: 4-4
03-04: 4-4
04-05: 4-4
05-06: 4-4
06-07: 1-1
43-41 overall
I just don't see home wins as automatics just yet. Even vs NU and MU (two of the better north retards)
-
01-02: 6-2
That's when Wooly fooled me.
-
When I get home I may*** youtube the OSU highlights from that year.
**May not want to "dilute" my youtube account
-
Yep. We do this every year.

Thanks for the correcting sys. I thought it didn't look right, but I'm too lazy to look it up. :)
I suppose I'm trying to believe Huggins has changed the culture enough that we can expect at least 6-2 at home this year. There is no reason whatsoever that we should lose to NU, MU, ISU, or CU at home. Even if we play horrible offense, we should beat those teams with our defense alone. I looked at those numbers last year, and made the point that Wooly's road record (as bad as it was) wasn't what hurt him, it was that putrid home record and losses to average teams like Baylor, Nebraska, Missouri, and Colorado at home that consistently bit him. I just don't see Huggins allowing that to happen.
I've thrown off Wooly expectations and if that comes back to bite me so be it. There's a new coach in town, believe.

Exactly right.
