The chefs are just being classless. Unfortunately for them it just appears that they are freakin' stupid.

Lew Perkins is right though... ku and MU fans are being way too selfish about this, this may be the PLAYERS only chance to play in an NFL stadium.

In my eyes this is good for another ku loss next year. They don't win on the road and this is on the road. Mizzou is looking pretty good too. Lawrence and Columbia are going to lose money in local businesses by doing this but I guess I don't give a rats aass.

They don't seem to approve. Many are worried about the home field advantage they lose and I don't blame them.

Yeah, F that, unless you know without a doub that it would be a sell out just keep your damn home game. I'd be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed if ksu did something like this.

Each school can handle it as it sees fit, but for the MIZZOU-Illini games in St. Louis BOTH universities offered student tix holders the opportunity to purchase tix for the neutral site game at a reduced cost. As the games are not actually home games, the student seating section policies (reserved seats or GA) can't necessarily be applied.
Steven St. John this morning (MIZZOU homer) is all over this. Says he loves the idea of the border war being played in KC. Says the ku fans that are grousing over this are wrong. Says MIZZOU fans from St. Louis area that are grousing need to shut up and drive west. Of course, most MIZZOU fans won't really bitch until it's their home field advantage that they are giving up.
He also said that it would be a recruiting coup for both schools -- just think of all the KC area high school recruits that would be awestruck by the chance to play in an NFL stadium. I totally disagreed with him (but didn't have the patience to be placed on hold for 20 minutes to voice my disagreement). As far as I'm concerned ku and MIZZOU can fight over all the 1 and 2 star athletes in the KC area every year. The AAF (Arrowhead Attraction Factor) isn't really going to sway top-quality recruits to sign with programs the like of these two schools.

When KSU played in the BCA I think student tix were 20 bucks most other seats were around 40.

I think my parents are getting season tickets. I haven't talked to them yet but I'm sure this is something they're looking forward to. I just hope ku's giving up of the home game will screw them in the end.

I think this is actually a good idea for both schools, and if either fanbase had any clue as football fans they'd realize it. Having a rivalry game at a neutral site increases exposure and kind of helps make it a bigger deal. They like to go around acting like their "Border War" is big time, then when it comes time to step up and act big time, they start griping about losing a home game. Arrowhead Stadium half full of black and gold and half full of red and blue would be far cooler than anything associated with those two football programs in a long time.

That's true, when your big Rivalry football game occupies two of your top 25 crowds in history slots, you better do something to shake the tree a little.
I laughed at an article I saw talking about how people who couldn't get into this game, might now have a chance . . . Ah, there was 12,000 empty seats at MU last season for the MU vs ku game.

St. John probably just wants it so he can advertise getting tickets from Viking Jim or say what channel the game will be televised on Time Warner Cable.

This is probably one of the reasons why Prince is scheduling teams like Auburn. This game will create a lot of exposure for ku/MU, while K-State will be left out in the cold.

Look at all the "excitement" those 28,000 EMPTY (with 8,000 OU fans in attendance) seats at the OU vs ku game in KC in 2005 generated. :rolleyes:
But it's probably a good move for each school to finally move this "Huge" rivalry towards a consistant sell out . . . maybe.

LOL at ku/MU exposure. The game simply moved venues, it didn't gain any more exposure, unless the KC Star wasn't going to cover the game prior to it moving to Arrowhead. You could move this game to the front lawn of the White House and no one outside of KS and MO will care.

I'm sure ESPN is already planning a campaign to rival the OU vs Texas, Texas vs Ohio State, Florida vs Florida State, Michigan vs Ohio State buildup.
I predict a full 4 weeks of nearly every ESPN gameday, halftime report and post game show to have significant ku vs MU segments.

The game can't draw anymore attention in the KC area and won't get any larger of a TV audience, but yes, clearly the KC area needs to be reminded that MU and ku play football.

Check . . . small private school in Omaha (undergraduate enrollment 3,673) that doesn't play football is Cornhole State's instate "rival", got it.

Nubb fans are precluded from this discussion because they are the only NCAA program to sell out their stadium for the last 30 years.. one of the very few records Callahan has not broken. But he is very persistent.

Well, as a resident of the Columbia area, I can tell you that I'm not hearing ANYTHING positive about this deal from anyone outside the MU athletic dept. The Columbia merchants are trying to find a way to impeach Mike Alden. By FAR the bulk of MU's traveling fanbase is toward St. Louis, so they're not too pleased either. And how embarrassing is it going to be to see a half-empty Arrowhead Stadium on regional TV? :bootyshake:

Well, you know it's a damn tough drive to point your car West on I-70 about 4.5 hours. Heck they even brought I-70 up to near G8 nation standards between KC and St. Louis for the most part anyway.
That's what cracks me up. This is supposed to such a huge rivalry, but ku fans don't go to MU for the game, and MU fans don't go to ku for the game. That's why it rarely sells out. The KSU vs MU game in Columbia had 10,000 more people at it then the ku vs MU game did this year.
