Title: Uh-Oh . . .
Post by: sonofdaxjones on January 22, 2007, 02:21:19 PM
80,000 seats for ku and MU to try and fill now.

Anybody think this "huge" rivalry game, one filled with SRO throngs, and rapid fans breaking down gates to get into the stadium can do it??

I think it's a big mistake for both schools.

Discount the fact the local merchants are going to lose one of their prime weekends during football season.
Discount the fact that they will play to less-than-packed house for two consecutive years.
Discount the fact that Arrowhead will appeal more to the JOCO KthUg fans than the huge contingent of St. Louis MIZZOU faithful.
Discount the fact that the student season-pass holders will now have to drive to see their "home" game.
Discount the fact that tailgating and pre-parties will be tougher to coordinate.
Discount the fact that the border war is typically the biggest "recruit-visit" weekend for both schools.

Those things, aside -- it'll be one of the best over-priced-no-talent football matchups in Kansas City for the next two years.

At least until the Raiders come to KC.
