Title: Rush
Post by: pissclams on January 15, 2007, 10:20:18 PM
Incredibly, his game has become even more one dimensional that it was last year.

His lack of a consistent jump shot has him passing up open J's and forcing the ball to the floor w/ dribble penetrations.
Pretty mobile for a big guard at this level but unless he can force defenders to respect his jumper he's an over-hyped decoy.

Give him 3 feet and let him haul up that crooked jumper.

Best of the three brothers, without a doubt.

The only thing funnier than him being Big 12 preseason POY, is Wright being the preseason co-POY for the B12.

Take that 41% with a grain of salt, the majority of his makes that upped that percentage were when he was putting the ball on the floor and bringing it to the hoop.  Did he make a jump shot the entire evening?

I'm not saying the guy sucks, just that he has no jumper and is one dimensional.
Title: Re: Rush

You have to admire a guy who looks back on High School as the best 5 or 6 years of his life.

ku could've had another Rush, but since 47 NCAA coaches were prepared to ring the phone off the hook at NCAA Hdqtrs if he signed with KthUg, Roi called a self serving press conference to announce that KthUg was no longer recruiting him . . . that might be an NCAA first, even for the most probation laden basketball program in NCAA history.

Wright an interesting case.  The guy does 3 or 4 things a night to win games.  But he also does 3 or 4 things to lose a game.

But he can rebound.

The only reason rush gets any publicity is because all the players at Kansas are alike. They all do one thing decent and the rest pretty average. But with the average players the question arises, "Who's our superstar." And since Rush has basketball ties in his families, and is a decent player, he is considered the star. Rush is as good as Cartier Martin, but Kansas has more decent players than Kansas State does, allowing Rush to look like the superstar. Instead of the way he plays, which is like an athletic white guy, with an average jumper.

This thread isn't about Cartier Martin, or any player K-State would like to throw out there, it's about yet another over-hyped Rush.
Why was Gary Coleman (S.Collins) the Freshman, the one pulling you guys out of the hole you call "MU's A-Game"?  Where was the all Big XII POY All-American?

Because Collins is the best freshman point guard in the country, and he finally played up to his potential.  It doesn't matter who steps up.  We've got plenty of options.

He started out the season in a bit of a slump.  His production has improved a lot recently.  I wouldn't say he's a one-dimensional player though.  Bill Walker would be a better example of a one-dimensional player.

Bill Walker is a 6'5 power forward with two knee injuries.  He'll never be the same athletically.  Rush is a better shooter, better defender, and better overall player.  Plain and simple.

Sherron Collins and Ty Lawson are basically equal in my opinion.  You won't find many who would argue that both of these guys aren't the best two freshmen point guards in the country.  However, as a K-State fan, your opinion is rooted in the fact that you hate ku with a passion.  Such is life.

Player B averages 8.6 ppg, 2.3 apg, shoots 49%, and has a 1.5 Asst/TO ratio

ku Conclusion:  Player B is a better PG than Player A

You are saying that Rush is better than Bill Walker, you are basically going against every draft expert's opinion. Bill Walker would have been taken top 10 in the NBA draft, if not for the rule to stay at least a year in college. And at that instant during the draft, Rush would have been studying hard for his sign language midterm. Even with two bad knees Walker still can jump twice as high as Kareem Rush's brother.

Before he tore his ACL, yes, he would have been drafted higher than Rush.  At this point, he's not projected to go in the '08 NBA Draft.  Rush is still the better overall player.  I'll take a 6'6 small forward who can shoot over a 6'5 power forward with two busted knees any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Have you ever heard of Willis McGahee, I see his torn up knee didn't completely ruin his first round draft pick. And as I see from this website Rush will be an early second round pick. Let me tell you something about ability. If you have it, then some team will take a chance on you. But if you don't have this ability, then your Kareem Rush's brother.

Okay, now there are two best F PG's.  You're correct that there are not many (people) who would argue that Collins is one of the best PG's in the country.  Because his production has been rather pedestrian,no?

Quote

No, my opinion is rooted in the fact that I think you're giving Collins a lot more credit than he's earned.  Certainly, a fan of ku basketball would ramp up that congenital basketball IQ and try to use a statistical analysis at least.  Instead of that, I got the innocuous "you won't find many who would argue". That'so

Now, that's not to say you're wrong.   To really know for sure we'd probably have to wait for the season to play out.
