Brandon Rush says that K-State is ku's main rival now (that Missouri sucks) and the entire board falls all over themselves trying to convince anyone who will listen that KSU will NEVER be their rival and that we are just an annoying little technical college to the west. Add in another snarky little jab at rural living, in-breds, yellow teeth, farms and bestiality and it about sums it up.
Hilarious. Its like they think they don't live in Kansas too.

I've always found that to be a most interesting pattern about the Phlock. Lots of self (no pun intneded) hate I guess. It's especially funny when Lyndon Jayhawk calls KSU fans hicks.

I like it when they whine about other schools booing.

I like it when they whine about other schools booing.
From Tad:
Every year I forget how much I hate Iowa State fans, and then we play them. They boo everything, even if they don't know why they're booing
I'm still in disbelief as to how much booing and crap the ISU fans spouted. That crowd was atrocious. Nothing to be proud of if you are a Clone fan.
From pglegend:
That crowd was right up there with Nebraska's last year as far as booing goes. Every dribble WAAAAAAHHHH, we're booing for something!!!!!1!!!!!!1!!! BOO BOO BOO...BOO...BOOO!!!1!! We got every single out of bounce call but still BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO!!1!!
From Biggest Dipper:
ISU played a garbage game and the refs took ku completely out of our game. Your fans were terrible and showed a total lack of bball IQ. ku had to play scrappy ball to pull it out. It was not a good game, but it was a good win by ku.
So it's now the fans of three teams that "boo every call" and/or "have a low basketball IQ".
Hilarious.
-
They absolutely came unhinged when some South Carolina fans said they'd never heard of the "Rock Chalk" chant.
"Oh jesus, those people call themselves basketball fans, why the Rock Chalk is the most famous chant in all of college sports, why everybody knows what the Rock Chalk is, everybody. Why I was in a bar in New York and I started bugging the crap out some guys with my constant drivel about ku basketball, and they knew right away about the Rock Chalk chant. They were doing the Rock Chalk chant, it was so cool."
What else do you expect . . . they'll spend all day telling you about how they really don't care about KSU.
-
UH, it's not Rock Chalk..
It's ROCK CHOCK CHICKENHAWK.

Lately, I've been enjoying the "we get everybody's "A" game. Now this BIE (built in excuse) only shows up in a loss or in a close game where they pull it out. Like Saturday against Iowa St. It was also in full force during the ORU game. ORU had a player who had made only one three pointer in his career. In that game the player hit 6(?) I believe. It was pure luck. I mean nobody hits that many threes.
You would think that fans with such high basketball IQ (sic) would know that if you leave a guy wide open for a three that he can shoot in rythm, he's going to nail it. But no, that's absurd!!
Here's some from Saturday's game:
From Sixinten:
ISU threw alot of crap in today that they don't normally make. They got very few good looks at the basket.
From xseven:
I just can't stand how they will take a guarded ill-advised three.....get a long rebound off the brick......then shoot a guarded, ill-advised three.......brick it......get a long rebound then shoot a guarded ill-advise three....and make it.
From pglegend:
No crap. They were JOKES. I think in the 1st half alone 5 of their 3's initially hit the backboard and then they end up banking one in. I was laughing out loud at their non-existent basketball IQ. Mike Taylor is a simpleton
From bobbything:
ISU played the ultimate ku game-killer: jack up an ill-advised 3 pointer, got the long-a$$ rebound, jacked up an ill-advised 3 pointer, got the long-a$$ rebound, made an ill-advised 3 pointer.
From Milt:
OK, so I watched the game with friends, was frustrated with our play, some calls against us, and ISU's absurd offense (ie "Trey and Pray"..,
The Bitterest Dipper:(just because)

There's also the Urban Legend Phog poster: Also known as the "I was there last week and ..."
Sweet DaddyJ
Second, I was at last weeks ISU - Nebraska game and the fans really do boo mercilessly if anything goes against their team. The kid who sat behind me even said "I can't wait for Saturday so I can just get all over those refs. I don't even care what kind of call they make, I'm just gonna get all over them
These are my favorite posts and nothing tops them. I really wish the search engine was better on the Scout boards because some of the outright horseshiot that gets eaten up by the Phog hydrocephalads is incredible.
-
That is what fans do, they boo. Just like a player is going to argue with just about every call a ref makes. Fans are going to boo nearly every call. It keeps the players pumped up and sometimes it will get you a call or two.
-
One would think that if you got everyone's A game you should be ready for postseason. That seems kind of conrtrary to the "we need better conference teams to prepare us for postseason" (a.k.a. mid-majors/non-BCS conference schools).
-
Times like these are when I wish I had a tape of one of their games last year where they lost at home I believe in the non-conference (Nevada possibly). There was one point in time where they booed for several minutes on nothing. We need a highlight tape of their fans booing.
-
I have a feeling we will have a very ugly defensive battle with them that should prompt a lot of boos. Especially if Huggins talks to an official. They'll hate that. :)
At least their resident VOR, "Jayhox", chimed in to set the record straight:
Aleen Fieldhouse is, actually, a prime example of the opposite. At Allen you hear a smattering of boos when a call goes against ku (every venue has its ignorant fans), but in general people understand if a call was good or bad. It is when there is a trend of poor officiating or inconsistency in the calls that Allen gets going on the booooos. ku gets on the refs at certain times to try and affect the game, but only when the right opportunity arises. Boooooing them from the first call to the last doesn't really do anything for your team.
In fact, many in our section yell at the refs when they are making calls in ku's favor but are disrupting the flow of the game. The Boston College 2nd half was like that. I was waiting for a "Let them play" chant to start ala Bad News Bears.
-
So it's a more astute version of incessant boo'ing in AFH??
-
Jayhox embodies every stereotype you could possibly come up with about ku. I don't know why it still amazes me, but it does. The guy has been around for a long time on the boards and he hasn't change a bit.
-
You really have to appreciate how the Hoax can meticulously breakdown stupidity on the part of the Hen House and attempt to make everyone believe that somehow at ku things are different.
It takes great effort but a guy like Hoax is usually up to the task.
-
In fact, many in our section yell at the refs when they are making calls in ku's favor but are disrupting the flow of the game.
LOL. The absolute best part of ku fans is that they are in the same sewer as everyone else, yet pretend they aren't dirty.
-
It's amazing that we have the best basketball fans and the best football fans both in one conference. We're so lucky.
-
When you're a fan of a team that everyone brings their "A" game against, you're level of knowledge about the game is naturally greater.
Pfft . . . come on.
-
You can't possibly understand basketball, nor have a good "basketball IQ", if you're team has consistently sucked for the past 20 years.

All of that talk of "ill-advised" and "lucky" 3-pointers from a fanbase that would collectively sigh in disbelief when J.R. Giddens would miss the crap he would throw at the basket from 3-pt. land.
Bob Davis: "Giddens 25 feet from the basket, pulls up for a 3-pointer"

Those are the reasons they don't like them. Five straight losses. Three years of no longer being the Big XII champs. It had a drastic effect on them. Similar to Nebraska fans hating us.

But everybody brings their "A" game against us. :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

I always bring my "A" game when I head over to the Phog.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL INTELLIGENCE TEST
DIRECTIONS: This test is designed to test your intelligence as it relates to the game of college basketball. This test does not measure your knowledge of college basketball, but rather, your innate ability to understand and comprehend the finer points of the game. This test has been rigorously designed and tested by our research institute in Lawrence, Kansas, to ensure that it is knowledge-neutral, and therefore measures your college basketball IQ regardless of your exposure to or knowledge of college basketball.
Answer each question to the best of your ability. There may be one or more answers that appear to be correct; select the BEST answer among the given choices. Generally, it will be best to answer with your “gut reaction.” Again, since this test is designed to measure your innate basketball intelligence, second-guessing is likely to only lower your score or give you a less-accurate result.
PLEASE NOTE: you may have taken a previous version of this test in the past. Previous versions of this test were structured in a manner which required test takers to correctly answer each question to proceed to the next. Questions were organized in order of ascending difficulty to help gauge the taker’s intelligence level. However, due to an abnormal number of local test takers who were failing to advance past the first question, the test has been reformulated and restructured. You now must complete every question.
This is a time-sensitive test. You have an average of 35 seconds to complete each question, except for the essay portion, for which you have 10 minutes.
Good luck.
THE COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, LAWRENCE, KANSAS.

Good news. Last night on the NBA post-game, they were discussing Webber to Detroit and Barkley said Webber had a good basketball IQ. Being a Piston fan, I'll be watching Webber frequently and thus, should see marked improvement in my own basketball IQ. Hopefully, some of that can rub off on all of us basketball neanderthals.

Posts are getting locked left and right on the new Phog right now.
Does this make me a stalker? :shy:
-
I love these posts after losses:
Okay, we lost. It's disappointing. It's frutstrating. You'd think some of us were playing.
There were a lot of things that went wrong. There were some that went right. Things were set up where this was not totally unexpected. We hadn't played extremely well in the last couple of victories. We were playing against the winningest coach of all-time who had several days to get ready for us. We were playing in a hostile environment where the crowd just got louder and louder and helped boost their players. Excuses? Not really. Just the way things happened. Life is tough on the road, and we aren't going to win them all.
The most frustrating part to me is the ending. We had unbelieveably gotten back even. We had "old Mo" on our side. Then we turned our backs, and everything we had gained was lost. One never knows for sure, but I believe that if we had not have done that we would have won the game. I am sure that will end up being Coach's fault, too, but things happen. We were just trying to get the defense set up and didn't realize that everybody was looking for their man. Collins was walking away towards his, pointing back for someone to pick the guy up. Too bad.
The ball movement on this team is difficult to figure out at times. Sometimes we don't move it enough. We take ill-advised shots and early in the clock. Other times we make too many passes. We drive to the hole and try to dish it to someone who is covered by three defenders. When we do it right, then we get a lot of good looks and easy baskets. It's hard to draw the line. When is being unselfish being too unselfish?
Russell continues to get some heat from posters on the board. But I thought he was one of our two better guards yesterday. He shut down Jackson the first half. He made some critical shots. Sure, he was far from perfect, which seems to be what ku fans expect. I'm not going to get into the debate anymore about who should start. That's Coach's decision. But RR is going to get minutes on this team, and we are going to need them to be good minutes - just like everybody else.
Julian's another that had an off-day who will catch some heat. And, he probably deserves some of it. You can't develop potential if you don't play. We all know that he has great skills. Sometimes he simply tries to do too much. If he could concentrate on the fundamental stuff first and throw in the highlight stuff when it's available, then I think he would feel more - and be - more productive. But we need him on the floor a lot, too. We just don't have the rebounders to replace him. Darrell does a good job, but he's learning, and he can't be out there all the time. One of the big keys, in my mind, is still Jackson. Darnell is the only other banger, besides Sasha, that we have. It's tough to play against some of these teams with all finesse players.
We need Mario to snap out of it. I guess he looked pretty good early, although I didn't get to see it. When they showed the highlights of those first couple of minutes it looked like Mario's defense was a big key to getting the easy hoops. We need better shooting on the perimeter. Sherron gives us that. Mario has given us that. Russell has even helped out at times. If we ever get consistent at it, then that will really open up the middle for Sasha and Darrell. And it will be a lot easier for Julian to get those passes through to them.
Sherron did a good job. He tries to make things happen. He pushes the ball, and he has become a much better defender. There's no doubt that the weight loss has made him even a step quicker. He shouldn't have walked away with his back turned before making sure someone else was coming to help. I only say that because he is human, too. We, as fans, put a lot of expectations on Rush coming in. Then after Florida we heaped it on Wright. Mario was next. And now it is Sherron. When Sherron has an off-night, then what are we going to do?
It was a team thing. Rush didn't come through in the way we hope he will. Kaun did some good things, but the motion offense is tough to guard. You have to be continually moving on defense, too. Darrell made some really nice looking shots early, and then couldn't get one down even from up close. We missed a bunch of chippies. We only shot four free-throws. And that wasn't necessarily the officiating. We didn't be aggressive enough taking the ball to the hole to get fouled.
It was just a tough game where we didn't perform like we are capable of. We expect big things from our team because they are good players with lots of skills. But sometimes we simply expect them to be perfect, and they are not. There is no doubt in my mind that we have some of the best athletes with the highest abilities as anyone in the country. For whatever reason, we just don't all get it together at the same time that often. I'd rather see it in March than now, but the frustration now leads us to have doubts.
Enjoy the ride as difficult as that is sometimes. We all look forward to the next game. Don't get me wrong. I want us to win as much as the next fan. I'd have loved it if we had gone through the conference undefeated. But that really wasn't realistic. It's very rare that it happens. But people were already talking about it after the OSU win. Such is the roller coaster that is college sports. There's only so many games left. I'm going to enjoy each and every one of them. I'm going to get my hopes up and maybe have them dashed - only to get them up again.
I think we are going to have an exciting season. I think we will show the country what kind of team we have and what kind of fans we have. This isn't over yet.
Have a great day. We get to see another game. One of these days the season will be over, and we will wish there was more to see.
Rock Chalk.

There was real gem by jayhox after our moral loss in Ames. He said his "personal game will suffer after watching our moral loss".
Since reading that, I have this image in my mind of the latest Adiddas commercial, where the chunky white guy (jayhox) in the RecSpecs keeps yelling: "We got next"!!!! Then he asks his embarrassed teamate: "Hey!!! Did you get those plays I faxed over to you"? as they step on the court.
I was disappointed there was no sartorial criticism of Huggs attire from Doc "Jeffrey's" Holliday.

So you love something that is hated, and the thing that is hated is jealousy.
Sounds like something out of Monty Python.
"First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

I never said that teams put as much stock and emotion in playing against KSU and Colorado. My point is that everyone says ku plays down to the competition. If this was the case they would be playing with as much, if not more, emotion than their competition. So, saying teams get up and bring their "A" game against ku, then saying ku plays down to their competition is contradicting.

Wow...shocking:
I can't think of anything else other than the coach to pin it on.
Yet, Self still outcoached Huggy . . . by a mile.
No more of this "K-State isn't our rival" business. AFH was fired up last night in a way only a rivalry fuels, and you all know it. More than OSU. More than A&M.
OSU -- No.
A&M -- He!! no.
The run against OSU was much louder than our runs against K-State. The pre-game atmosphere was pretty blah, actually.
I'm baffled that our seniors didn't show up last night. Did not see that coming. Not this year.
Coaching, according to your theory about Self.
Jermaine freaking Maybank?! If he shows up without Martin or Harris disappearing on any given night, we could score a lot of points on the perimeter without godlike 3-point shooting a la @Tejas.
Further proving Texas can't play defense and you guys needed a miracle from Harris to win that one. What are the odds of that happening again?
This may sound silly, but I actually like K-State's chances in Bramlage more after this game than I did before. See: K-State vs. New Mexico 2-game series.
I doubt you can make the leap in improvement between now and then that you did back earlier in the season. Oh, and New Mexico has officially been flushed down the crapper so that is another meaningless win to the NCAA Selection Committee.

They get more like Nebraska football fans everyday. The seething insecurity and false bravado that comes out of these two fanbases of elite programs falling down a notch makes me so happy I sometimes worry about my sanity.
