Or not necessarily expectations, but what will keep you satisfied with Prince?
Schedule
Missouri State
San Jose State
@Fresno State
Auburn (???)
---------------------
@Texas
Kansas
Colorado
@Oklahoma State
Baylor
@Iowa State
@Nebraska
Missouri
I'll be more than satisfied with ANY sort of improvement from the 2006 season. A 5-3 big 12 record would be fantastic. I could stomach a 2-2 non-conference record as long as we take 5 in the conference. Going 7-5 in the regular season would be fine AS LONG AS WE WIN A BOWL GAME. If we lose another bowl game that makes 3 straight and 4/5. Not good.
I'd be nice to sweep ku/MU at home, but if we beat either Texas or Nebraska on the road it more than cancels out an embarrassing loss to a perennial loser on our home field. I want to see Prince get another big-time win. That Texas win this year kept KSU football relevant. People know Josh Freeman because of that game.
My early prediction looking at that schedule is 6-6 (4-4).
I'm not talking about "offensive improvement" or "stopping the run" because those things go hand in hand with winning...nor will I discuss any sort of media aspect or him just doing zany things. I could care less as long as he wins....which is what we should use to grade Prince.
Thoughts?

7-5, and sweeping KthUg and Moo at home. Have to keep beating them at home at least.
The only problem with beating KthUg is the fact that the KSU game is Mangino's super bowl and thus that will likely spell the end of his tenure at KSU, and Coach .275 will be replaced possibly by a real coach.
-
Unless we are very bad next year (is there any reason to believe we won't improve next year?) I can't see us losing to ku at home. They are 2-18 on the road for a reason.
Hell, even with Mangino's best team they still lost in Manhattan vs our worst team since 1992.
-
8 wins keeps me satisfied, but I want 9.

Schedule
Missouri State - W
San Jose State - W
@Fresno State - L
Auburn (???) - L
---------------------
@Texas - L
Kansas - W
Colorado - W
@Oklahoma State - L
Baylor - W
@Iowa State - W
@Nebraska - L
Missouri - W
Our entire road schedule next year is tough, but the good news is our home schedule is all very winnable. If improvement of the offensive and defensive lines means wins, then we should win 8 regular season games and then see what happens with the bowl match up. Although I'd be satisfied with 7 regular season wins and a bowl win.
-
The numbers catzacker put up plus a win @ Fresno. They were horrible this year. Is what I think should happen in Prince's second year. I could stomach us going 7-5 if the loss came to Mizzou..
-
I think we're still missing some important pieces to have a succesful team.
W - Probable win
T - Toss up
L - Probable loss
Missouri State - W
San Jose State - W
@Fresno State - W (They were pretty bad last year..)
Auburn (???) - L
---------------------
@Texas - L (Beat down.)
Kansas - T (We can't stop the run, they can't play on the road)
Colorado - W (New QB, and the implementation of yet another new offense. Still at least a year away.)
@Oklahoma State - T (I like Okie St. Fun team to watch. Horribly inconsistant though.)
Baylor - W (I think the entire Baylor program is melting down. Too bad too, Morris is a good coach.)
@Iowa State - W (Don't expect much from them next year.)
@Nebraska - L (Too much talent, despite coaching (dis)ability.)
Missouri - T (Still a decent team. At home for us, and I think we'll be a better team this year than we were last year.)
I guess that puts us at 6 wins, 3 losses, and 3 tossups. I'll go with pessimistic view so as not to get disappointed and predict 7-5 again.
We've still got to realize this upcoming year is only Prince's second year. It takes coaches 3-4 years to get their guys and their system in place. That's when we should judge him. We were lucky that Prince was able to get us to 7-5 last year. In year 3-4 we should expect at least 8 wins. If he gets to 10 wins in his first four years, it should be viewed as a great success.
It's not what I want, but it's realistic.

I expect us to suck against all the good teams and to have a chance against the sucky teams. After each loss, the boards will be in a meltdown with everyone demanding the immediate firing of everyone in the athletic dept. After each victory, everyone will experience euphoria and have serious discussions about which BCS bowl we can get to through a series of highly improbable outcomes in other Big 12 games. In short, we will be mediocre, probably 5-7 wins.

Kind of a bi-polar experience ? :confused:

I think 7-5 is still OK. Schedule's a bit tougher, IMO.

5 wins.

Do you mean the OOC schedule? The conference schedule is much easier than this year...we don't really play anyone that good at home. Unless you count MU, but we play MU at the end of the season, which is usually the time Pinkel is leading MU on a downward spiral. We play the good teams on the road which we'd expect to lose anyways.
-
I'd call 7-5 par.
Bowl games are weird things, sometimes you get favorable match-ups and sometimes you don't. I won't put an expectation on a bowl win without knowing what type of team we are playing.
-
Will ku have a decent running attack next year??
-
Have a chance to win the North title going into our final game of the season. Not necessarily controlling our own destiny. Regardless of record.

Fresno St should be a W..they aren't very good.

I'll go with 7-5, 4-4 in the league again. Hopefully a bowl win this time.
-
8-4, 5-3 in the league.
I'm optimistic, optimism is my new year's resolution and there is no way coaching turnovers, defensive schema changes, uncertain contributions from key recruits, a tougher OOC schedule, the lack of momentum gained by less than stellar MBB season thus far, and the continued presence of The Shocker on this board is going to shake that optimism.
Damn...
I might as well start smoking again too.
7-5, but still 5-3 in the league.
-
Many are happy not to consistently compete for a championships. (I'm not asking to hear your pre-emptive excuse making.)
-
I know this isn't the perfect thread, but I really don't see how Prince is around after year five.
I think he will be incredibly mediocre - not the "championships or last place finishes" type everyone seemed to predict.
-
i predict a more consistent season.
-
I predict that everyone here will be wrong. :tongue:
Honestly; 7-5 looks about right... but who knows what could happen next year. I could pick out 7 losses on that schedule just as easy as i could pick out 9 wins.

God, at least wooly was attractive.

We never gave Wooldy a raise, either.

Yes, and that is why I'm predicting 6-6 next year. Ron Prince is Carl Peterson's dream coach.

I thought Gunther Cunningham was before he was fired.

11-1, nothing less. :ksu:
-
7-5 seems about right. If we have a winnable 4th non con game then i think that 8-4 could happen
We have a favorable conf home slate. Only team that i see us having problems with is MU, but i think we go 4-0 here
The only road conf game we have a shot in is at Iowa St. The other 3 we lose.
If we get 3 home non-cons we should win them all. At Fresno is a tossup
Between at Isu and at Fresno.... i can see us winning one of those. That would make 8-4 a possibility.
-
freson sucks. we shouldn't lose to them no matter what. and so does iowa state. we should win both. even though they are away.

I'm going with 2-10.

Josh will not allow us to lose to Fresno.
Forget this 2-2 crap.
