in all of the post game bitching iīm surprised i havenīt seen this mentioned:
young 3 minutes.
injury aftereffects?, bad practice?, huggins holding a grudge for the dribble-off-the foot thing?, stewart engaged to jenna huggins?
-
I don't know. I was surprised he didn't play more. Maybank got the bulk of the minutes spelling Stewart. The even weirder thing is when Young was in he was in with Stewart AND Maybank.
-
could it be due to the fact that he hasn't played well?
-
Yes, but a lot of guys played minutes that weren't exactly tearing it up. :)
-
i feel for huggs.
to be looking down at your bench and see young, harris, kent, yearby, maybank, etc. has to be depressing.
-
actually clent played 37 minutes last night.... so maybank played a lot backing up Harris.
Young came in, missed a lay up, let his guy get a offensive rebound, and then on a TT transistion play he got back in the lane but preceded to pick up no one. Jackson was the closet TT guy to him, but Young did not bother going out to guard him. TT reversed the ball and Jackson hit a wide open 3.
Stewart is playing so much better than the other 2 PGs right now. Clent has some bonehead TOs last night too, but he worked his butt off playing D on Jackson (who shot just 7 for 21)

I'm presuming that Young is the guy who Huggs -didn't mention by name- that:
"Did not know the number of the leading scorer in the conference".

That would make sense and explain why he didn't get back in the game. After Jackson hit that 3 he probably came off and asked why he didn't pick him up and said "I didn't know Jackson was #22..." And then Huggs was real happy. :)

It the only reason that makes any sense. To me, anyway.

That baseline play they ran for Young in the first half where he was wide open but too damn small to score in the paint was indicative of the problem with Blake.
He's can't handle the PG role and he's too damn small to score in the Big XII paint where he's facing bigger & stronger players than what he saw @ Juco.
If Huggins is faced with two equally poor PG's, but one who can bring at least a little rebounding/scoring to the equation (Stewart), why not stick with that one. Blake has solidified his spot filling minutes for Clint the rest of the season.
