Well, hope he fails after all the talk of staying at Miami.

Why? Every coach does that. Has a coach ever said to the media, "Yeah, that job interests me more than this one. I'll probably take it if offered."

As the sig. mentions not to high on the SEC so another failing coach there is right up my alley.
Also Shula really didn't deserve what he got in getting fired. The people who make the decisions for that program don't live in the same reality as the rest of us, it's like bizzaro world in Tuscaloosa.

I got ya. I don't follow it closely, but I didn't like the handling of Shula either. One mediocre season after looking like he turned them around last year and you get canned? Especially after giving him an extension. That really says something screwy was going on.

Exactly there is a whole lot going on behind the scenes, so much that every one who pays attention notices that not every thing is ok down there.

They've, Alabama, got a chance right away:
1. John Parker Wilson threw 5 TD's and only 1 INT in their SEC wins
2. They do lose Kenneth Darby but Jimmy Johns is a good back and Terry Grant is a highly talented recruit
3. They return their Top 4 receivers (DJ Hall, Keith Brown, Will Oakley and Nikita Stover)
4. They return 4 of 5 OL
5. They get all of their special teams players back
They do need to replace 6 starters on defense.

they won 10 games last year or I guess 2 yrs. ago now and had a down year at 6-6, after signing their up and coming coach to an extension. Then fire him.
Unfortunately i'm pretty sure Saban will win many games there, but I now have a least favorite SEC team.

That seems to happen every year in every sport.

maybe it does, but off the top of my head I can't think of one.
not to beat a dead horse but Shula brought that team quite a ways in a short period after Mike Price's tenure.

its not the first time this type of thing has happened and i can bet you it wont be the last.
real shame that a good coach gets the boot cause hes not a "great" coach.

one I did kind of think of was Ty Willingham at ND I don't really remember too many details but seems like I remember he was basically forced out for O'Leary.
I guess it happens about every year or every other year at a major program. You are correct.

O'Leary came after Bob Davie and before Tyrone Willingham.

was ty forced out or not? maybe i'm just crazy but i thought there was controversy when he left.

They made a big deal about Tyrone Willingham being fired because not only was he the first black head coach at the school in any sport EVER but he was the first black head coach at the school in any sport to be fired before the completion of his first contract EVER.
