Title: Chicken chucking...who's in?
Post by: chiefsncats on December 21, 2006, 07:53:29 AM
We need a group of students to get some chickens into the ku game for ku introductions.  Who here is going to do this?  We need a leader to get the group together and plan how to do this (not on a message board) with the group.  Since I am not a student, I can not do this, but I am sure there are some brave young men and women that would like to continue this fine tradition that is Chicken Chucking at the ku game.

This message will self destruct in 5 seconds.      :ksu:

Truth, this probably is the best place to organize said top secret tradition.

Did you know we made the top 50 college traditions or something in SI last year with the "Art of the Chicken Toss" ?  I remember reading it randomly in my psych class.

So, who's the most classless student we've got on these boards?

This is an idiotic idea, whose ku sock are you?
cheifsncats, how about instead of throwing chickens onto the floor, I take a spear and chuck it into your face at half court.
I bet the crowd would go wild.  Then afterwards, I'll put on a black t-shirt for the grand finale!

Classless?  On this fine forum?

Seriously, just about anyone around here would have the criminal mentality to excel, especially in a pointless, crass endeavor such as this!  But the question begs”  “How in the hell do you sneak a chicken into a basketball game?”.  Maybe sneak in a bottle of Jack, but a %$#! chicken?

There is a way you can hold a chicken that it will fall asleep immediately.  It would not be very hard, but for the ku game they search people, so that could be tough.

the days of getting live chickens in are gone I'm afraid, but oh the tradition was a beauty back when.   Plus, the PETA would go nuts and all we'd end up would be a negative.  Now rubber chickens........that's a whole new ballgame (<--hint)      don't forget the blue, red and yellow paint job either .....

Live chickens have been chucked in Bramlage before and will be again.  A successful chicken chucker during my time at KSU brought said bird into the building by entering via an entrance manned by a couple of his fraternity brothers.  Truth is that nearly everyone, including those paid to ensure that such things don't happen, would probably like to see it happen again.  Don't forget to paint or dye your chickens before chucking them, nothing screams classlessness like a bright blue and red bird.

The game is in February.  Big puffy coat. Carry it around your back so if you have to open the coat no one can see it.  Go in with the main part of the crowd so they only give you a quick onceover if that. No one ever looks at the back once you're past them.

Last but not least...screw peta, unless its the People for Eating of Tasty Animals.

I guess I -am- the only one who read about it.  It was quite popular.  Someone would actually sneak a chicken in for the ku game, hiding said chicken in a big winter coat(it's usually fairly cold out when ku comes to town.)  Then release said chicken under/over the ku bench before gametime.  And Saul's correct, chickens actually aren't that hard to keep calm or asleep, so long as you hold them a certain way(and can catch the &@#%er first.)

They do check people for the ku game however.

So, acceptable replacements since noone seems to be interested in being the official "Chicken Tosser" this year?

Two that i've heard -
The rubber chicken(Kst8r, good idea.)  We would need multiple people to bring and throw these for it to be worth doing though, not just one person.  Shower them with rubber chickens.

Pacifiers - This one for Mr. Rush to remind him that he has a little boy that he's not paying child support for.  Dead beat dad part 2.  When they introduce him, shower him with handfulls of pacifiers.

Edit: Damnit Azcat posted before I finished my post, so I guess someone else is more familiar with it than myself.

I'd really like to see a live chicken WITH the pacifiers.  Blue and red chicken would be perfect.  Surely there's a classless fan on this board that can do this, or maybe someone could contact a fraternity that's awesome enough to do this.

Edit 2: Damnit Sanchez just posted making my entire first paragraph completely worthless.

sticking a pacifier into a chickens mouth is a great idea.  but obviously it is going to be harder to sneak them in against ku.  why not try throwing them during other games?  a chicken flying into the back of knight´s head during a timeout would be pretty funny.

Somebody really should visit the Tech boards over the next couple of weeks and go all fake SPC on them, complete with intentional misspellings of Lubtuck (sp?).

don't interpret my post above incorrectly, I would LOVE to see those feathers fly again!!  But, only the ku game does it carry any significance, for MU get a bunch of orange tabby cats from around your neighborhood and let em fly!  You could always make chinese after the game.

There is nothing to bold and daring for us!  Nothing!

Rubber chickens to me sounds like a much more likely success!

Classless enough to throw a chicken- alive or dead- on the court, yes.  It's the effects afterwards that concern me.

If you guys were really bold and daring you would just bring guns and shoot the ku players after they've introduced. Nothing says rivalry ownage like murdering the other team.

The sad thing is, in our PC society if the "chicken tosser" got caught, they'd probably get arrested and jail time for animal abuse or something.  Thing have changed a bit since chickens were last tossed I'm afraid.

You just can't do stuff like this anymore:

The primary after-effect is utter hilarity.  Have you ever seen ushers chase painted chickens around a basketball court?  *THAT* my friend is some high-quality entertainment.

unless you are dook, zero ESPN cameras will be on the crowd.

Don't worry about the cameras.  We can get at least one if not more on the crowd for the toss.  It'll make sportscenter if succesful.  Camera guys love this stuff, so if one of the students tells them about it..(even the cheerleaders can do this, probably be easier since they're actually on the floor.)

Hell, if someone could find me two student tickets for sale(I have a valid student ID, not ticks though) and a chicken, I'd do it.

You(and the rest of the student section) have to help hide me when the wave of pink shirts descend upon me though.

I have seen this done successfully at football games where a chicken was hurled with a ballon launcher over the band and onto the field.  I have also seen this evolution go bad where it resulted in arrests at the gate...
