If a player is injured or killed in an accident while driving to a bowl game in Houston instead of flying with the team  not only will Prince be fired but he might be run out of coaching forever.

This is just a bad idea, way too many opportunites for players to get hurt in accidents.

These clowns are going to spend their per diem long before getting anywhere near Houston and be making phone calls to Prince for help.  What a retarded idea this is.

I've never even heard of something like this, any of you?  I'd be pissed if I were a parent of one of the players.

Prince is trying to promote team building.  When the car carrying Josh Freeman, Chase Coffman, and Jeron Mastrud
flips off the road and into a ditch, Chase and Jeron will have to work together to pull Freeman's unconscious body out of the car before the fuel ignites and blows them all up.

Quite possibly the dumbest idea I've ever seen.  You're begging for something to go wrong.  Atleast the weather is supposed to be good on the way down there Saturday.

Other posters on other sites have said that this is actually a common practice for other schools.

It's pretty common for those bowls played before New Years because a lot of the kids are at home or traveling.

Snyder would have never done it.

I don't like the idea either, to much risk involved, but I have heard its not that uncommon

I also agree that this is foolish.  They say that colleges all over the nation do this kind of thing, but I think it's a terrible idea to risky to get in trouble or hurt.  Let's all say a prayer that Freeman's vehicle makes it safely.

Do we have someone assigned to each player for holding their hands while crossing Denison?

I'd hate for someone to get hurt or killed.

I know some players and they've been talking about arriving early so that they can have fun blowing all of that money.  That part doesn't bother me so much.  What does bother me is that they're talking about things like getting totally wasted, hitting the strip clubs, and the good spots to find hookers (yes, hookers).   :frown:

Have GPC.com members sabotaged this thread?

Better for players to get "it" out of their system while road-tripping or once they get to Houston than the night before the game...   :fatty:

If you think players will be driving down there you have downs syndrome.

Arrangments are already made, flights and such for both ways.  Everything is taken care of.

Personally I would not do it as a coach.

Yes, clearly the players driving to Vanier from their homes/apartments in the same town is exactly like allowing players to travel over 700 miles across 3 states  during the middle of winter.

Stupid argument.  Who cares how they get there, as long as they get there.

I meant walking.  Crossing Denison can be dangerous.

I'm sure that none of the players took advantage of the week off to go see family for the holidays before the bowl game.  Thus, surely none of them would have been traveling hundreds of miles back to Manhattan from their homes to fly down to Houston, anyway.

On second thought, if they've been practicing this week in Manhattan, then my point is pointless.

I figure as long as they don't bus down on the CatTracker they should be all right.

Just saw several FB players at Man Town Center with arms full of packages. Looks like their spending their $$ before they even leave town. I don't care if other schools do this, I think it's a big mistake and your just asking for trouble.
Either everything will turn out fine, or Prince will learn a very costly lesson.

They deserve it. It's a great idea for the players.

Now, if they lose I will get all emotional and do a 180.

I too went shopping at Manhattan Town Center this time of the year when I was a student, it is christmas time after all. I think it's pretty unfair to assume that the players are spending their travel funds on unrelated things. (Do you really think they are serious about spending gas money on hookers?) Also, the majority of these kids will be coming straight from their folks' house; I'd have to assume that the travel arrangements will be made by most of the players' parents, so if the parents feel comfortable letting them drive, so be it.  (Half the team is from Texas anyway, why drive all the way back to Manhattan, just to turn around and fly back to Texas?)  I drove to Phoenix,(twice)  San Diego, St. Louis, all the Big XII schools, etc. and never was involved in so much as a speeding ticket.

The players were still having full practices as of Thursday.  I know this because they invited area high school coaches to come up and watch said practices.

If you DON'T think that at least some of the players will blow some if not all of their per diem on a strip club somewhere between here and Houston then give me the address to the planet you live on, I'd like to visit sometime.

I understand that you've driven yourself all around the country and I too have taken my share of "road trips"; the concern here is that there's not 1 chance of something going bad there's 50 chances of something going bad and those odds suck.

Tell me again where you're getting your information because I don't see anyway that "half" of our team is from tx.  http://www.kstatefootball.com/players/index2006.shtml if that's your argument then you're going to have to find a different one because it simply isn't true.

HA!  Never you bastard, it just makes me a little nervous that's all.  Like I've said in other posts, I've seen the "maturity" level of some of these kids and giving them a per diem along with an eleven hour road trip seems like taking a chance.  I hope I'm wrong.

Wasn't trying to be literal about the "half of the players," I just meant it makes no sense to have everyone's (already short) vacation time used up traveling too and from Manhattan.  Since so many other teams around the country travel this way, I see no reason why Prince should be vilified for a commen practice.  Also, it';s real hard to take someone who quotes the great Keanu Reeves seriously.  What, could you not find a Judge Reinhold quote that was related to football?

Josh Freeman didn't die on his trip to Houston!

Just another example of how Prince is a total clown.  He's got no responsibility, zero level of accountability and almost scores a negative when it comes to level of character.  I can't believe he's tolerated by K-Staters.

for it to be a RE-birth, doesn't that imply that there was an original birth?  When was that?  I don't remember KSU ever being a national power.

During those years when Nebraska sucked (late 90's, early 00's), Mondo.  You may have selective amnesia for those years as they were quite painful.

It's okay, everyone forgets from time to time.

Not surprising.  You were stuck on the personal image part of your profile, going crazy.  I can see how things stump you.  I guess that's why you look to Kermit the Frog as an icon?
