Title: Top 30 Bowl Moments at K-StateSports.com
Post by: McGrowlTowelZac on December 07, 2006, 10:52:20 AM
They have the top 10 plays in k-state bowl history in offense, defense, and special teams.  Pretty cool looking back on some of the plays and memories.  Good stuff, I'd say anything from the Copper Bowl and Fiesta Bowl in 97' is on my list, those are two games that always stand out in my mind.

Lets make some new ones in Texas Cats!!!!!

Is it really a surprise that was #1 on defense?  I'll never forget the crowd's collective "ooooohhhhh!!" when he did that.

It said the #1 ST play was from the '97 Copper Bowl. (it was '93)

Anything that makes Donovan McNabb look silly is fine with me. I don't remember so many positive plays in the Alamo Bowl.

I liked the TD celebrations over the years.

Darnell McDonald "raised the roof" and I think Quincy Morgan "brushed his shoulders off".

As nice as those plays looked and despite the fact that I was there, I have no memory of those Alamo Bowl plays whatsoever.

And you can see the great Canby over his shoulder.

F'ing AWESOME.

The night of the copper bowl was probably the greatest night of my life to that point (of course, I was only an 8th grader then).  I've been to six of those games and the trips are always fun, but I would have to say that the games in Arizona and Dallas have been the best.

Did anyone else flip off their computer screen when they showed Mike Stoops in the press box of the '98 Alamo Bowl?

I listen to Mitch & Greg Sharpe and just shake my head.  How did we let those guys go?!!?

Here's to Freeman & Co. making some new highlights for the ages.

A few random thoughts and memories as I watch the Offensive highlights:

  • Up until he became too conservative at the very end, Bill Snyder was a playcalling genius.
  • McDonald is probably the most underappreciated WR we've ever had.
  • Bishop doesn't have a shotgun for a right arm...he has a f*cking anti-aircraft gun, Vincent!
  • I still can't believe we lost to BYU, and I still harbor unwarranted hatred for Brian Kavanaugh.
  • I had completely forgotten about Tyson Schweiger.
  • Wyatt Thompson doesn't deserve to sit in the same booth that was once graced by the likes of Mitch Holthus and Greg Sharpe.

Excellent point on Bishop, the rumors were true about him being able to throw it goal post to goal post, its a phenomenal thing to see.

Tyso Schweiger "Schwags" is/was coaching out in western Kansas now.  He's married with children (not sure how many) and he's trying his hand as a professional boxer.  He's not bad but you can definitely tell its been years since he's put on the gloves.

Actually, I second that.  I think I was still recovering from the Big 12 championship loss, that and I was high as a kite while watching that game.

Todd Weiner
Jeremy Martin
Kendyl Jacox
Brien Hanley
Ryan Young

oh, and an interesting tidbit about the alamo bowl team.  it had 16 starters drafted.

I expected to see Thomas Randolph's pick of the WR pass in the Copper Bowl on there.  I was sitting in the far end zone and saw what looked like the play opening up for Wyoming, and knew it was going to be a TD when the Wyoming WR, Yarborough (sp?) let it go.

Randolph came streaking out of nowhere to pick it off.  That dude was fast.

Nope, McEntyre made the pick 6 at the end of the game that made the list, but Randolph made the play I'm talking about.

I thought it was interesting how they said McEntyre was the first athlete to play in the NCAA tournament and in a bowl game.  I wonder how many more have done that?

I know McNabb did.  He was on the 1995-96 national runner-up basketball team (I think his freshman year, before he quit basketball to focus on football), and I believe played in 4 bowls.  I think he deserves all the accolades that come his way, but Bishop outplayed him in the '97 Fiesta Bowl.

Got the tape out.... Watched through shortly after KState's second TD so far, which came shortly after Randolph's INT of Yarborough's pass.
