There's a rumor circulating through the Jayhawk world that says the Big XII is currently negotiating with both the Sun & Gator bowls to allow both bowls a Big XII pick up this year. FWIW.
-
Go get 'em, Kevin!
-
This would be good for us.

Kevin's new nickname is "K-Wei".

This would be good for us.
In that case it's probably nothing more than a rumor.
-
That's the phag's way of trying to talk themselves into a bottom tier bowl.

Don't think it can happen per the NCAA rules:
Per Bylaw exception 30.9.2.1 an institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be selected for participation in a bowl game if 1) the institution or its conference has a primary contractual affiliation, which existed prior to the first contest of the applicable season, with the sponsoring bowl organization. In the case of a conference contractual affiliation, all conference teams with winning records must be placed in one of the contracted bowl games before any institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be placed in a contracted bowl game; and 2) all contratual affiliations have been fulfilled and all institutions with winning records have received bowl invitations (either through a contractual affiliation or as an at-large selection).

Probably not true. The NCAA rule talks about the fact that conference-alignments with bowls must stem from agreements that were in place before the season started. I doubt they'd allow the Big XII to screw a mid-major out of a bowl by adjusting our agreements after the fact.

Since when have NCAA rules really mattered to anyone at ku?
-
Looks like Mangino will have to bulldoze his way into a bowl.
-
If they don't make a bowl they can at least promote their promising future to recruits under probation.

Rusty, why not "Uncle Big XII" or just "K-Dub"? :)

I did hear a ku fan saying when we played them in Lawrence) that if ku finished at 6-6 he thought Perkins would be able to pull strings with ESPN from his ties in Connecticut to get ku in a bowl game. I think he's way off, but that was something I overheard.

K-"Wei", watch and learn:
Notes: The Big East is negotiating with the Big 12 to provide a better opponent in the Texas Bowl than the contract calls for -- either Missouri or Texas Tech -- because of the caliber team the Big East will send to the game. In addition, the league is in talks with the NFL Network, which will televise the Texas Bowl, to arrange for it to be made available on "free" TV in the market of the participating Big East school. ...

Basically the Big East is saying "we don't want to play teams from your league that stink", sort of a slap in the face, but you got to respect them trying to get a better opponent for their representative in the Texas Bowl. Also being proactive to get the NFL network to show the game in the market of whoever makes it.

So the Big Least is going to bribe the Big XII to send Mizzou, a team no bowl really wants, to the Texas Bowl? Sweet!
