I was talking to a co-worker who's a NU fan and he indicated that he had "heard" that Butch was trying to pull Blake away from NU. Does anyone else besides Blake recruit for NU? Anyone heard about this?
-
Heard the same rumor out here.
Some NU Fans are concerned that Jay Norvell is going to take the ISU head coaching position, and that John Blake is headed to NC.
If so, watch NU really start falling to pieces.

Jay Norvell

If both of those things happen, I wonder if Jim Rose would feel sorry for them. That would be one impressive meltdown.

What is with the ISU fetish for NU offensive coordinators?
More importantly, if Blake goes, does Demetrious Davis come back in play?
-
There have been rumors about Blake being interested in North Carolina, possibly as the defensive coordinator there. He would be a big loss, especially in recruiting, where he has had a big effect for us. It sounds like Callahan has lists of guys that he could bring in to replace him though, so it's not terribly concerning.

Blake is an absolute top-shelf college recruiter and a solid position coach. You won't be replacing him with anyone who's going to have as much success recruiting as he does. Better hope he decides to stay.

In memoriam to Bo Schembechler:
Good, get him the he!! out of the Big XII

Blake is as good as gone, IMO as his family would prefer to live in a more Southern area. They feel like they haven't been welcomed in Nebraska.

The first part may be correct, but your second sentence couldn't be further from the truth.
-
Yeah, everyone here loves Blake and his family. I doubt he leaves honestly. If he does it would hurt recruiting somewhat, and hurt to lose such a great guy, but we'd just reload and move on.

Nitin, my palindrome friend, it is well known that Nebraskans aren't exactly "tolerant." It's one of the primary reasons Freeman switched his commit. You need to read between the lines. What do you think Freeman meant when he said he wanted to play for a black coach? Do you think it's a coincidence that Nubski's only 2 black coaches are looking to get the hell out of town? I don't.

Honestly, you are clueless. Blake and his family are well liked in Lincoln. Your attempts to imply Nebraska is racist are not based in fact. NU has four black coaches (OC, DL, RB and WR), not two. Norvell is only looking to leave for a HC job. Honestly, I lived in Manhattan and was involved in law enforcement, including many fights between whites and blacks in Aggieville that were based on racism. KSU has a black head coach, which is great. That doesn't mean other schools are racist.

I have not heard one nu fan concerned about norvelle leaving. as for blake, he aint going anywhere unless butch davis is gonna give him a title of assistant head coach or somerthing. I also don't think NU would fall to pieces as it becomes more and more obvious that coming ot NU is a great carrear move. that is some interesting ksu logic but what can you expect, it came from the guy that said freeman was the next vince young
lol

Norvell was interviewed for the Iowa State job, but was not hired. There's nothing solid at this point about Blake being offered a job at NC or even being interested in leaving.
As far as any comments about Nebraska not being a welcoming place for people of different races, that's just ignorant.

isu is a dead end job. if somebody like mccarney can't win there, then nobody can.
