i was pretty happy with our QB running game play, until the 2nd half of CU kinda hope we can bottle up Sunshine like Reid and 1st half against Jackon.

ku is no Texas. And Ok. State's QB run game was useless on us. Kerry Meier isn't as good as Reid is. Not to mention, KM will probably get injured before the game is over. I am actually making that prediction. I wouldn't even be surprised if Reesing also went down and they had to finish the game with Barmann.. Just a simple prediction though, don't put to much into it :thumbsup:

well hurting there QB's doesnt matter they have a endless supply of mike vicks, peyton mannings etc....

1st, the bad. UT did run it all day on us, but there was no read involved most of the time. It looked like read, but McCoy/Snead carried the ball only once and our DE came straight down the LOS nearly every time which should be an automatic keep but McCoy/Snead rarely kept it. It was essentually an automatic give most of the time and blocked like an outside zone play.
Now the good. As another poster said, ku is not UT. ku doesn't have the line, nor the quickness in the backfield that UT had. Cornish is certainly not the same type of back who will get the edge or hit the seams like Charles and the other UT backs. However, Meier/Reesing will be a threat to run, so we'll have to defend the QB which we didn't really try to do vs UT. That could force us to take a player away from the point of attack. IMO we probably take away Cornish first and see what the ku QBs can do. If they have a lot of success, it won't be good for us.

Yes, and he was supposed to be good. Unfortunately, he didn't turn out to be good throughout the rest of the season either, so you cannot give us any credit for him being useless..

The only teams that have run seemingly at will on us have been NU texas and CU, 2 of which also happen to be our most recent games. If you look at big 12 stats though, they seem to have been doing pretty much the same against everyone else in the league. I havn't bought into the whole "sky is falling" with our D yet.

I think a QB who tries to run through the middle of our defense is going to be very, very sorry he did such a foolish thing.

I don't think Texas did all that great running the ball against us.
Their two main running backs had 29 carries for 128 yards - 4.4 ypc.
Overall, they had 143 yards averaged 3.2 ypc. For the season, they're averaging 179 ypg and 4.5 ypc.

While Texas didn't rush for their average, it was probably due to the fact that within 3:06 minutes we were up on them by 21 in the second half, so it wasn't like they could just start running it again.
Against ku we just have to tackle well. With the QB read plays usually one player gets put on an island and has to make the play. I'm concerned because any team that wants to commit to running the ball against us can. Mangino would have won last year if he would have committed to running the ball.

I worry about fatigue, the qb run game puts a lot of pressure on the tackles and ends to hold their gaps, the ends do a lot of running. It is crucial that seiler and echols blow up cornish in the middle and not allow them to create seems to run through, then our lb's cannot over pursue. Meier is good at faking. If we hold them to under 140-50 yds on the ground I will be shocked if they beat us.

That has little to do with the fact that they were a yard/carry below their season average.

I'd say that has a lot to do with it. KSU is the only team that down 21 points decides to run the ball (MU). Everyone else begins to throw it. Their average was poor because they ran like 7 total plays at the goal line for zero or 1 yard. I'm not comparing UT's offense to ku's, but we have had trouble stopping the run against teams that want to run.

Meier/Cornish run the read play technically better than any other combination I've seen. Ever. Including Vince Young.
Vince Young ran it well because of his speed and athleticism. Meier and Cornish run it well because of their technical execution. Our defense needs to stay at home. With our speed, we can limit the play since Neither Meier nor Cornish have the acceleration of VY, but if we bite too hard on the fakes, we're going to give up a lot of yardage.
In general, it's important to hit Cornish behind the line. That's where he's most vulnerable and he will give up negative plays.

I can't see the game so I don't know what kind of run-game they're usin'....but, they're gashin' us that's for sure.
