Title: A Look at Kansas
Post by: catsfan20012002 on November 13, 2006, 09:13:22 PM
The Jayhawks are 5-5 with only 1 loss coming by more then one score. That was a 10 point loss to Oklahoma State that they lead 17-0 during the 3rd quarter.

QB Kerry Meier, for some reason I didn't think he was the starter anymore, is completing 58% of his passes for 986 yards (164 yards/game) and 12 TD's. He has also thrown 8 INT's. He threw 4 INT's vs. Toledo and 3 TD passes vs. Oklahoma State.

RB Jon Cornish has rushed for 1,120 yards on 210 carries (5.3 yards/carry). His best game came at Baylor when he carried for 196 yards (8.2 yards/carry). He also had solid games against Texas A&M (128 yards) and at Nebraska (145 yards). He scored 2 of his 5 TD's at Baylor.

WR's Brian Murph and Dexton Fields average 11.4 and 9.9 yards/catch respectively. Murph has 6 games where he averaged double digit yards/catch and Fields has 3 games where he averaged double digit yards/catch. TE Derek Fine has 4 games where he averaged double digit yards/catch and has a TD catch in 4 games (including 2 at Iowa State).

The offensive line is veteran with LT Cesar Rodriguez, LG Bob Whitaker and C David Ochoa. The right side (RG Ryan Cantrell and RT Anthony Collins) is young.

Defensively, the Hawks are lead by CB Aqib Talib, SS Jerome Kemp and FS Darrell Stuckey. It's a defense that has given up alot of points. The Hawks have given up 37, 39, 42 and 36 points in 4 of their 5 losses. Their offense has scored an average of 29 points/game in their 4 Big XII losses so if their defense was better this would be a much different Jayhawk team.
