That still pisses me off.  "The trick plays show our defense alot of respect."  Really?  Did he forget about their trick play that didn't quite work out?  Excuses are like Manginos, everyone has one.

I see little, if any, reason to take offense to that.  As a former defensive player, and current defensive coach for a junior high team, I agree 100% with what he's saying.  It does show respect for a defense when an offense is forced to resort to multiple trick plays.  Our defense performed well enough that they had to try one as well...

The only reasons that somebody would run a trick play are because a defense either dramatically overpursues, or because overall team speed & execution are as such that you'll have limited success without some form of trickery.

Teams don't practice them as much as the core plays, they take longer to develop, and they are far higher risk/reward ratio.  I would expect that we won't see nearly as many trick plays this weekend as I believe that we can run the football on ku's defense.

Yeah, those 30 yard TD passes down the middle where our receiver outran their DB's, the screen to Johnson, for a TD, the handoff to patton, and the QB sneak.. those were really, trick plays..

I looked it up.  It says "When you score a TD on Texas, it's a trick play."

That is my point.  They tried one as well.  He makes it sound like we beat them on trick plays, when they tried one themselves.  BTW-LOL that a guy named "Bookie Pimp" is coaching our youngsters!
