Title: Has the D lost steam?

I'm definitely voting option 1. I've just heard this talked about recently.

Injury to moran is huge.  Also losing watts and having the corners banged up is big also.  The other part is that teams have tape on us.

they've lost steam due to the loss of baldwin and watts in the backfield, and moran in the trenches.

our best secondary player, and our best cover man.  that's tough to overcome, especially when everyone is learning a new system.

and we're very, very thin in terms of quality at dt.

we need moran back, asap.

Even though we've lost people and have surrendered more yards lately.... God d@mn!!! We hit people.  And hard.  And with abandon.  We layed some serious wood on the crew from Austin and if nothing else, I'd hope they remember that.

You people are nuts. We held TEXAS to 4.8 ypp and only 150 yards off 45 carries on the ground.

They played great saturday.

well the didn't come out strong, but they sure pulled those turnovers out, campbell had a night  and kyle williams got pretty jacked up in the fourth

I'm not saying they played poorly Saturday. I'm more referring to games such as CU. Although being goldbuffgangboss you probably appreciated that.

can you really claim to have played great and yet allowed 42 points?

As long as we score more, nobody really cares.

14 points were freebies.

the first td was phantom.

They score one with a minute left.

We really won 45-14.

I calculated that using the jayhoxerean Theorum.

2 scoring drives from inside the 5

1 scoring drive from about the 30

D didn't do too shabby....we did allow some wide open areas on the field...and we did have some breakdowns in tackling...but it was a decent effort.

they've certainly regressed in tackling skills the last few weeks.

I think you've got to acknowledge the effect of injuries on this defense.  I do think the coaches have done a great job putting guys in position to be successful for at least part of the game.  The last 2 weeks we've given up much more in the 2nd half though and to me that indicates that CU and UT were able to exploit weaknesses that our staff did a good job covering up with the gameplan going in.  To hold CU to 0 and UT to 14 in the first half of those games was pretty impressive, and in a sudden change situation I'd like to see us hold the opponent to at least one FG.  I think we'll be okay against ku, but I also expect ku to score some points.  I don't see us going to Lawrence and shutting them out.  Hopefully Raheem and his staff can put together a great gameplan to slow down the Hawks.
