Title: Awwwww

People always ask me why I feel the need to be at every game in person, and I always tell them that it is because of moments like this one.

We've lost and we're crushed. 10,000 purple maniacs are storming the field, with nearly all of them doing the Horns down. The 300 orange-clad fans who are left are all standing with our Horns up, awaiting the Eyes. One look at the field and it is obvious that the team will not be joining us-- it's an absolute madhouse, and they are doing everything they can to simply get to the locker room in one piece.

Suddenly, there he is. #39. He somehow manages to make his way through the crowd towards the band, and he stops right in front of them and puts his Horns in the air. He's surrounded by K-State fans doing the Horns down, but he just stares at the band and waits with his Horns held high.

Finally, they play "The Eyes." Robison only has 4 of these left, and nothing was going to keep him from it. "The Eyes" after the Rose Bowl was unbelievable, but to me this was every bit as special. It was one of the greatest Longhorn moments I have ever experienced.

The next thing you know, here comes the ENTIRE team making their way through the throng. They have come back out of the locker room, and must make their way across the entire playing field to get to where we were. All 300 of us go NUTS. We are applauding their effort that night, but it was also a huge thank you for an incredible run. All of the players look dazed, and many are fighting back tears during the second playing of "The Eyes." When the song ends, they slowly make their way back through the craziness towards the locker room. By this time, some idiot has shimmied his way up to the very top of the goal posts. I think to myself, "If those posts come down, that moron is going to die."

The posts never came down.

Afterwards, we made our way back to the Hornfans tailgate where we discovered that someone had stolen our full cooler of beer. We wound up having a room party back at the hotel, and all we could talk about was #39, the second "Eyes," and how we were so lucky to count ourselves amongst a small group of Texas fans who got to experience it.

I don't care what you guys think...that is a cool story. I love seeing stuff like that.  I have a helluva lot of respect for Robison as a player because he's unselfish and brings it every snap.  That is the type of thing Ian Campbell would do for KSU w/ his teammates in the locker room.

I guess it would be easy for me, or "cool", to side w/ the crowd here and poke fun but I'm going to swim upstream and say that is a neat story.

Agree 100% But it's our job to laugh at it.

Forgive me for not considering some Texas douche signaling to his band and fans to "rock on" a la Motley Crue while sporting sad puppy eyes and getting choked up by "I've Been Workin' on the Railroad" a neat story.

I repeat:

So, do we consider that a moral victory for the Horns? If so, they can have as many of those that they want.
