Title: Mountain West Follies
Post by: 2 Handed Finger Roll on August 18, 2010, 06:42:58 PM
Does anybody else think the ups and downs of the MWC are funny? One minute they're adding Boise State, assuming they're going to get the respectable Big 12 leftovers, and riding the excitement of a future automatic BCS bid. The next minute they're watching Utah bolt to the Pac 10 and their only other consistently credible program going independent/WAC.

Too funny.  The Mountain West-Conference USA rumors were the best.  Imagine a conference with San Diego State and East Carolina in it.  Talk about a national conference (that nobody cares about!).

I so want the Big XII to grab BYU.  Perfect team for the north, solid fanbase, and one of the few regional schools who can hang in both major sports.

Fausto, I am with you on this one... BYU would be a good fit in the Big Whatever and in the North.

But who do you add in the south? Eleven teams doesn't improve the situation. Who else can come in and generate money? tcu and Houston don't have a fan base large enough to bring anything to the table. Both have small stadiums they can't fill, and they are in UT / A&M fan territory. Arkansas is the only one that really makes sense.

Add in the South???  Nebraska and Colorado were in the North.

It would be great to have Arkansas and BYU. Some other possibilities are tcu and Colorado State.

Not tcu. Put them in the WAC. Then, we go after Patterson again in three years.

What is funny is there were no repectable Big 12 leftovers. Now that NU is gone, BYU would own the North. It would be funny watching a team we own dominate the Big 12-2 and another team we own win the PAC 10. Check our #4 ranking lately? Or BSU for that matter? Apparently, the Nation outside the Pig 12 thinks we or Boise would win all conferences except the Big 10 (the real one) or SEC. And we would be second in those. Snyder have your there yet?
