Two to the Big 10, four to the SEC (Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas A&M) and Colorado to the Pac 10.
What would become of us?

MWC!!! :steadymobbin':
or start a new Big 8.

I think you'd be pretty much screwed in that scenario. That said, I think that has 0% chance of happening. Texas and OU will want to go to the Pac 10 before the SEC - they would have a much greater chance of competing for NCs in the Pac 10 then the SEC year in and year out, why would they go someplace like the SEC where it is so ultra competitive compared to what they have now?
I'm really interested in whether your wagon is hitched permanently to ku's like Keitzman says it is.

Earth could fly out of orbit and into the sun?!
"I think you'd be pretty much screwed in that scenario. That said, I think that has 0% chance of happening."
But if it did, "What would become of us?"

Hate to say this but I think Mizz and Nebraska are going to jump ship. Here's a point that someone made on a Husker board. It sucks, but makes sense.
It's about being proactive rather than reactive. It's about choosing a landing spot before the Big 12 implodes, not begging for one after it does. Because expansion is going to happen, and when it does, the PAC 10 and SEC aren't going to pick their noses. And when they expand, poof goes the Big 12.
Either we can be in a reformed Mountain West level Big 12, or we can choose our own destiny. I prefer what we're doing.

The Big twelve should go on offense. Offer schools such as Arkansas, Purdue, Northwestern, Arizona, etc.. an opportunity to join the Big 12. Sitting back and waiting on these teams to jump and then act is bull. Screw Nebraska (personal note).
-
You have to remember these conference talks are about more than football. It's about the athletic programs as a whole. Let's face it, the Big 12 has done NOTHING to look after the interests of anyone outside of Texas and it shows in results. The Big 12 is a dead end and has been since the beginning.

Every one of the programs you mention has a current conference deal which pays more than they could make in the Big 12....Arkansas, Purdue and Northwestern make SIGNIFICANTLY more, and Arizona will when their conference expands and adds a championship game.

7 teams aint gonna happen. something will though. its all a matter of what texas wants to do, if they still want to have a big 12(minus a few) then so be it, if not, we're on our own. Better hope Currie is a master strategist.

Big 12 offers the Huskers a better shot at BCS bowl games than they would get in the Big 10, but they apparently believe that the revenue bump they'd get by switching conferences would make them more competitive with Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Wisconsin. In the Big 12 North, they would get pressure from Mizzou, and occasionally K-State and Colorado, but can see them having a good shot at the conference championship game pretty consistently. Don't see how they compete in basketball, but then again, they don't currently compete in any meaningful way in the Big 12.

Any new word on the possible expansions?
