Title: Beasley to the Wizards?

The Miami Heat want as much salary cap room as possible in the offseason and this could involve trading one of the few players who are signed for next season. They'll definitely look to shop Michael Beasley, who was benched in their last playoff game, and his $4.96 million salary.

According to The Washington Post, some members of the Wizards front office, another team with a lot of salary cap room, are open to trading for Beasley.

One potential deal would be for the Wizards to send their lottery pick to Miami for the power forward.

This certainly wouldn't surprise me.  Before the draft Miami was questioning whether or not to even take Beasley because of so called "character issues".  My guess is the Heat want to clear up as much cap space as possible for Wade and Chris Bosh.

I still think Beasley is a great player.  I think he's got some growing up to do in addition to getting his game together.  I also think he had a hard time not being "the guy" like he'd been since he picked up a ball.  If he goes to a team where he is the guy I think he could have a lot of success, it didn't seem like he really meshed that well with D Wade.  Maybe I'm wrong but I think this will be a good move for him in the future.  It may not be that it's to the Wizards but who ever gets him should get a better player than what was on the court in Miami.

I think this would be nothing but good for Beas. There are too many distractions in Miami.

Heat president Pat Riley spoke to the media yesterday and addressed several issues including his own future with the team. When the topic of Michael Beasley came up, he had this to say about the forwards exit interview.

"You're doing OK," Riley told The Miami Herald. "OK isn't good enough for me or for you. So let's figure out how to get past OK." Beasley said, 'OK.' "

Riley also said: "Ever since Michael was drafted, he seems to be the most maligned player in the NBA. He takes things so seriously because he reads and hears on a regular basis how bad he is. That's just the way it is. I said, 'Get used to it in this league.' If you want to be the best of the best, you better get used to having a very tough skin."

Riley says Beasley could play small forward, but "his comfort zone" is at power forward. Riley also wants Beasley to "approach this summer with a world-class athlete's mentality about how to get better both on and off the court."

The Heat will probably look to trade Beasley to help increase their cap room in the offseason.

More on a possible move for Beas:

Ever since the playoffs ended for the Heat, there has been growing sentiment that Michael Beasley's future in Miami is in serious doubt.

Since being drafted No. 2 in the 2008 draft, Beasley has shown flashes of talent. But he's also been inconsistent and the team could trade him this summer.

As we've previously written, Beasley's value in the trade market may only be to free up some cap space, which bodes well for Miami's plan to re-sign Dwyane Wade and sign a max free agent, but would also be viewed as a disappointment if that's all they could get for a former No. 2 pick.

But is there more than just his play that could lead to Beasley getting traded this summer?

Writes Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel: "Amid the talk of adding Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire, the Heat continues to view Beasley more as a power forward than small forward, which certainly leaves his future in doubt."

Previously, we've noted the Wizards could be in play for Beasley.

As ESPN's Chris Sheridan has previously written, the Timberwolves and Nets could be in play for Beasley as well.

I heard that the Wizards did get Beasley, just not Michael.

No way they would send the #1 pick...

I think alot of Riley's talk of character issues was posturing, he wanted Mike, not D Rose. Although today that looks like a bad move, big men take more time to acclimate themselves to the League. I see Beasley more as a 3 offensively, but defensively he doesn't fit the wing man mold. He's going to have to improve his D to ever get big minutes.

If Washington is the place he won't be "the man" with Arenas and Wall there - although Arenas could be gone.

The combination of a good fit and an improved work ethic could still make Mike a perennial all star...we'll see...

Wizards just need to get rid of Arenas somehow, someway.  Wall and Beasley could be a nice combo.

Possible sign and trade with Chris Bosh and the Heat.  I am thinking this would involve the Beaz going to play for Toronto.

I'm hearing something of a package deal that would send Bosh, Wade and Lebron all to Miami. It would be nice if Beas could play with them.

If LBJ, Wade, and Bosh are in Miami then Beasley will get traded.  Most likely to Toronto as part of a sign and trade for Bosh.  Having Wade, Bosh and Beasley in Miami isn't that bad either though.
