Title: Recruiting Rankings
Post by: rak21 on February 03, 2010, 12:13:23 PM
So I basically hate this time of year but since there's nothing else going on I thought I'd do some comparing of what the "experts" say about the Big XII classes and what I say about the Big XII classes:

Them:

01. Texas
02. Oklahoma
03. Texas A&M
04. Missouri
05. Nebraska
06. Oklahoma State
07. Baylor
08. Texas Tech
09. Iowa State
10. uk
11. K-State
12. Colorado

Me:

01. Texas
02. Oklahoma
03. Texas A&M
04. Missouri
05. Nebraska
06. Oklahoma State
07. Baylor
08. K-State (up from 11)
09. uk (up from 10)
10. Texas Tech (down from 8)
11. Colorado (up from 12)
12. Iowa State (down from 9)

Thoughts?

Recruiting rankings are so teams like aTm can at least feel good about themselves from Feb 'til September...

It's really a crap shoot once you get out of the top 25.

The bad thing is our class is not every good.  The good thing is 4 of the 6 teams in the North; ku, ISU, CU and of course us all have bad classses.   Hard to say anyone of those 4 classes is any better or worse then any of the others.

How do you put K-State's class at 8?  I see a bunch of juco scrubs and DeMarcus Robinson.

Don't know about the #8, but a few things about the 28 players KSU announced today:

3 players (Brown, Thomas, & Sweeney) played in D1 games last year.
1 transfer (B. Smith) that saw D1 playing time as a Fr at Minn at practiced with the team last year
11 players ( 7 HS & 4 Juco) that are on campus and will participate is spring practice

Also, 8 Players on the list that will be part of the 25 scholly limit that are not included in the Rivals rankings

Bonugli 3 star 5.6 RR
S. Lamur 2 star Juco transfer that was 2009 scout team POY
Marley 3 star 5.5 rr
Mariner 2 star 5.4 rr
B. Smith 3 star 5.7 rr
Thompson 2 star 5.4 rr
Trujillo 2 star 5.4 rr
Zimmerman 2 star 5.4 rr

And not on any list, transfer C. Harper 4 star 5.9 rr and potentially A. Brown 5 star 6.1 rr

Don't know how to factor transfers, extra year of spring practices, and actual D1 game experience into the recruiting rankings and I don't care.  What I do know is those intrinsic factors can make the team better in the future and that is all I care about.

Oooh, BMW droppin' some college football expertise on this board.

I've seen your attempts before.  You don't have a clue about individual players, their talent, or teams.  We won't even speak to coaching.

Next thing you will tell me the reason Sproles was good was due to the crown of the field at KSU so that he was always running down hill....
