Title: What do you think of the "Spring Game Fan Fest"?

I'm not sure what to think.  My initial thought is that it's kind of corny.

I guess we'll see.

It's kind of interesting that the squads will be non-interchangeable and will be coached seperately by the coordinators.  Again, I'm not sure what to think about this.  On one hand, I would think the spring game could be a good game walkthrough for a completely new, young coaching staff.  On the other hand, this probably makes the game a little more competitive for the players.

I think it's awesome compared to what the Spring Game has been in previous years.

Yep. I'm 100% in favor of what he's trying to do. The Spring Game under Snyder sucked a$$.

Snyder's was business-like.  It was designed to prepare the football players for competition.  It was also boring as sin.

Was the "Fan Fest" designed to get more fans to the game?  The midway, bands, and barbecue contest don't really make me any more excited about this game. What about other people?  Will this impress recruits?

Also, that's a long freaking day.  An hour long autograph session after a 6:00 game?  I'm sleepy just thinking about that combined with a long day of drinking.

Quit being so old.  :violin:

11:00 AM?

Banker's hours.  My problem is I drink too hard too early.

What would make you more excited about the game?

Didn't they used to "switch scores" back in the day, where the Purple team would score alot, and then they would switch scores at halftime, and the purple team had to come back from the very defecit they had created?  That would be fun.

What would make you more excited about the game?

Well, nothing really.  This year, I'm excited for the game itself because everything is so new.

What's not to like about this?

The 2006 Purple and White Spring Football Game promises to be unlike any previous K-State spring game. Not only will the game be played under the lights, but it will feature two, non-interchangeable teams with each team coached by one of the program's coordinators. The contest will also run like an actual, full-speed game and will not include situational elements

I thought the changing of players was very lame, and made the game nearly unwatchable.

I don't dislike it - I'm pretty much indifferent to all of this new stuff.  I don't see how not interchanging players makes this better, but I don't think it makes it worse, either.

I think changing the players devalues the competitive aspect of the game.

I think playing yourselves alone makes the competitive aspect almost nihl.  On the flip side, having the coordinators on different "teams" diminishes preparation for in-game communication and means half the players won't be coached by their new coordinator.

Anything is an improvement over the previous years. Period.

That's like saying anyone can come in and do a better job than Wooldridge.

Not true.

To answer your original question - yes, designed to get more fans interested in the spring game.

Preperation wise - I have no clue.

The spring game will be much better for the fans.

The spring game may or may not be better for the players.

How is that?

This years spring game setup is essential for us to become a fast, powerful and disciplined team that competes for championships.

Recruiting doesn't stop untill the waffle house closes.

Miracle in Manhattan.

Terrible analogy, Rusty. Wooldridge's coaching is prime rib compared to the spam that was Snyder's spring game.

Carnival midways and BBQ contests are tres chic as Midwestern "culture" goes and certainly no worse than Harley Day.  If Prince hypes it enough the early season carnival will have every 6-year old within 100 miles of Manhattan begging mom and dad to make the trip.  The quickest route to 20,000 butts in the seats is probably 5,000 cars loaded with mom, dad and a couple of kids.  It's clever.  Corny as hell but clever.

Spoken like someone who no longer lives in the midwest, for a reason.

Transvestite prostitutes and gay bathhouses are the local flavor here.  Personally I prefer carnivals.

"Transvestite prostitutes and gay bathhouses"

When did you move to Vegas?

Ohh, no, wait.  All the bathhouses are out of the county.

The whole day of activiites sound fine with me, but the carnival thing.....nah.   I'm there for the game, and everyone else should be too.  I am looking forward to it.  Battle of the Bands?  That sounds corny too. :beerchug:

Spring games are big recruiting tools now.

I can only imagine any recruits that showed for our spring games under Snyder were asleep by the 2nd qtr.

While I love Snyder ... he did suck the fun out of a lot of stuff.

In his speech to Student Senate last night, Prince said that the local media has been calling him "PT Barnum" because of his plans for the Spring Game.
