Title: So I am at the local BWW last night . . .
Post by: sonofdaxjones on January 21, 2010, 04:45:18 PM
no, not my favorite place at all, but definitely the most convenient place.

I am sitting next to another regular at the bar, nice guy, prof at local school.

So, we get into a discussion about K-State as we're watching Baylor get homered against ku, and also watching NC State beating Duke.

Dude is very familiar with EMAW land, been there many times.   Loves it there, loves the campus, and says in the area of research he deals with that K-State is pretty big time.

I felt all  with stunning levels of affirmation.

He was totally digging on  :AA:  and was all  :dancin: about the possibility of NBAF

QFT. Best boneless wings that I have ever had. And boneless wings are my specialty. How can't you go wrong with boneless Thursdays? :lick:

I'll have to re-phrase.   I like it, it's not at the top of my list, but def hotties working the place, and a really good TV setup . . . best in town.  They just overhauled all the AV stuff, spent a lot of cash.

+1.  Can get full for pretty cheap at 50 cents each.  I also like the trivia games they have and trying to come up with some kind of dirty screen name that hasn't been censored.  Wait, I can't use "FAH Q"?!?  or "A$$HOL"??  After a couple of tries I usually just go with "EMAW", unless there's another EMAW in there who has already taken that screen name.  Then I get really  :curse: and  at the same time and go with "EMAW2" or something.

Yes, fantastic TV set up.  The franchised locations are never as good as the corporate owned locations though.

This is a franchised location.   Great TV set up, good but not great beer selection, decent but not great food.

A lot of people don't want to hear this....but I am going to say it anyway.

The best wings in in Northeast Kansas are at Henry T's in Lawrence.  Furthermore, I am fairly confident that they are the best in the state, if not the midwest.

I assume Rick Daris is in agreement on this.

pett-

what are your feelings on purchasing 99 cent wendys spicy nuggets and then tossing them in wing sauce that you've warmed up in your microwave?

henry t's is v good. v v good. it was my "neighborhood b and g". not gonna lie though, vermont street had some wicked wings. they never should've moved to mass st though. dug their own grave. new place was way to big.

Henry T's are better than Jefferson's? I'll have to try sometime. Best wings in Manhattan are Tiger wings. BWW can lick my chode. Seriously, the wings are overpriced and have very little meat on them. Plus, they charge for dressing (I mean, wtf?). All of the sauces are good though. The only time I go to BWW is when they have the all you can eat wings from noon to two on Thursdays or w/e.

Fellas, got a confession to make.  When I go to my neighborhood BWW (about once a week) I get the buffalo chicken wrap.

they're both good. jeffersons has a couple of different choices in sauces which is nice. henry t's does not. should def check it out and form your own opinion though. vermont street (when it was still open) had the most unique wings ever. you either absolutely loved them or hated them. no middle.

maybe this deserves its own thread (maybe it already has one) but, like, do you people really go to places (such as BWW), like, by yourself?  So you just say to yourself..."self, I'm going to go to BWW and get 12 wings and just sit there....by myself...".  Eating by yourself, anywhere, is the loneliest, scariest damn thing in the world.  I hate doing it and avoid it at all costs.  It's right up there with duecing in a public toilet for me.

def worthy of a new thread. i basically explained my love for going loner @ movie theaters to gasped silence. eating alone would be horrible. that's why you take the food home, and melt away there.

It makes it easier if there is a bar.  Then you can sit up there and pretend the bartender is your friend.  Also TV.  Because it can be your friend.

I was in the middle of typing the same thing.

Had dinner by myself just last night at a bar.  I went out for a couple drinks with a buddy, and then on the way home by myself afterwards I decided I'd do dinner at this joint by my place that serves a free pizza with every beer.  Sitting at the bar definitely helps, instead of being a table.  And, I actually struck up a conversation with the girl next to me (which doesn't happen always).

Also, having a phone out and texting (or pretending to text) helps if you are sitting by yourself.  You're signaling to the people around you: "See, I really do have friends!  Out there somewhere!"

While I'm sure I could learn a lot of info, I don't think I could handle all of the ranting and raving.  We'd have to discuss HDTVs or something.

There are some great sadness/eating alone strategies in this thread. Definitely alcohol, sportscenter and texting allows for the lonely diner to act as if they are busy and "just taking a lunch break from so many friends" by waltzing into a restaurant alone. If you can get two of BWW's 22 oz.'rs down in the first ten minutes, you start having conversations with your buds in your head and therefore do not require human contact while waiting on wings, just sportscenter with CC.

One strategy is to text/email 15 of your friends immediately prior to entering the restaurant, and then leave your phone on high volume. Begin drinking heavily and include frequent outbursts (directed at no one in particular) like "GOD just leave me the frack alone!", "ooh I always knew she had a naughty side *chuckle*", and "is it too much for the boss to ask for 20 minutes without this BS!?".

This is a great strategy.  Not to make anyone think you have friends, because who gives a f^ck about that, but to make yourself feel good.  You will get a response about every 30 seconds and just keep the conversation going.

Totally onboard with this strategy.  You sit down . . . look at phone (laugh), pop a couple of Texts to buddies, "ku sucks" . . . "MU looked good" (to my one MU buddy) . . . a couple of more . . . then wait for them to pile back in . . . . strike up conversations with bar keep . . . text a buddy to call you . . . can you hold my chair I gotta take this . . . oh I'll take Asian Zing and another beer, be right back . . . go talk to buddy about inane BS . . . return to seat and suddenly take great interest in games on TV . . .

I'll worry about other people thinking I have friends.   :ohno:

Maybe I'm too weak-willed.

If I remember correctly (the past is fuzzy, though), Last Chance was the first place to have buffalo wings in Manhattan.
