I'm actually surprised that more people have not connected the dots to recent coach firings (Leach, Leavitt), and our own press release from John Currie about Frank Martin's contact with Chris Merriweather.
Common denominator? ku's firing / lew perkins sliming of Mark Mangino for abuse of players. ku did this to get out of paying Mangino the full contract payout, and since that time we've had a wave of coaching abuse allegations that has tremendously, in my opinion, pvssisfied collegiate sports. But I've been wrong before, and in this case, my opinion is biased because of a belief that ku and lew perkins is behind this trend.
Thoughts? Unless I've missed it, especially since the Leavitt firing, it has not been discussed locally or nationally.

No, aggressive contact with players cannot be tolerated. This started with Norman Dale if anything.

w/o even reading your post or thinking twice about it, i'd just have to say yes.

I don't think it started in football. As a nation we are becoming a Sue First ask questions later kind of people. People want easy money and 5 min. of fame. This couldn't be easier for talentless players to get theirs. :pirateskull:

Becoming? That describes our naton for the past few decades.

Agreed, we've always been the same great nation. We didn't recently get all awesome, left-winged thinking and crap.

I think a subset of players from the team (similar to team captains) should be assembled to
rough up set straight the insubordinates on the team for the head coach. :pirate:

You should watch A Few Good Men and tell us if you still think it's a good idea.

We sued more people in the 1800's then the last 110 years.
So aren't we a sue-less nation?

This isn't about lawsuits.
This is about the recent rash of coaches being terminated for "abuse". Did you see this as commonplace before the lew perkins initiated sewage-fest in November? Or has the rash of dismissals and political correctness follow a pattern that preceded the Mangino sliming/fiasco?
I think college sports has gone all pvssy since the lew perkins dismissal of Mark Mangino. Seriously. Apparently very few others have seen the chain of events for what it is.

From an educational standpoint, I am amazed at how many decisions are made based on what another school did first rather than seeking legal or other counsel. Now everyone can point at ku for being the first mover (at least the first mover this year). Of course, this will bring about years of contract litigation, but when in Rome...

Just let out all of that repressed anger, Quinn. Heaven forbid a coach get fired after going 1-7 in the Big 12.

But, but... what about the orange bowl that should earn any coach at least 3 more years b/c it is so prestigious right?
Naw &@#% it give me the middle of the road MAC coach instead.

That's just it, though. That's not the stated reason for his firing--if they fired him for that, you pvssies would have to pay Mangino $6.6 million because a losing season does not fit the "for cause" segment of his contract. So lew perkins / ku slimed Mangino with phoney baloney abuse crap to trash the man and his career, and make his position untenable. THEN he was offered a reduced buyout. Now we're seeing this back-stabbing, press-leaking vagina strategy again and again.
I hated the way KSU took a beating on getting rid of Prince Ron, but at least they were man enough to pay the contract without trying to drag Prince through the mud.
I do hate lew perkins / ku for being such pvssies and causing a new political correctness in college athletics.

So you're assuming that Mangino, Leach, and Leavitt are all just completely innocent? I don't think that's the case.

Remind me please of all of Mangino's trangression b/c I honestly don't remember them all. Srsly.

Please. You are a homer who will believe anything. If ku told you to eat sh1t, you'd be on this board telling us how good it tasted and what fools we are for not eating sh1t too.
