Yep thats the guy.

In 2008, Burns coordinated a San Jose State defense that ranked in the top-20 nationally in tackles for loss (7th), passing defense (10th) and quarterback sacks (11). San Jose State was 21st nationally in points allowed and turnover margin. The Spartans were either first or second in the WAC in all of those categories in 2008.

wow what a shltty ass hire.

i like it :woot: i don't know why :woot: i feel really good right now :woot: i feel really happy :woot: i want to give you a hug :woot:

we did lose VK

obviously they wouldn't be coordinators if they were worth a crap as a HC.
-
VK was trash, we all deep down inside know that. He will fail at Illinois, it was only a matter of time before he would sink at KSU.
1 trash for another at least keeps it fun and less monotonous.
Though, VK did look really clean and like he might smell really nice like Old Spice and cinnamon buns.

This guy reminds me of the ku hires. At one time was a awell respected cordinator at some bigger schools but has lost his shine in recent years after some failures. I was pretty meh on the ku hires and I"m pretty meh on this hire. He is from Texas and coaching at Tulsa you would think he'd have some connections down there.
-
At least this staff will be able to leverage their AARP discounts to drive KSU's recruiting costs down.
-
Dear Keith,
please recruit. thanks.
your future friend if you recruit,
catzacker
-
According to one of the resident validators having former failed headcoaches on the coaching staff is a huge positive.
-
Utterly sickening.
Didn't like Koening either, fyi.
-

Yeah, just looked at his picture and that was all I needed to confirm he wasn't going to recruit for sh1t.

well, since it's impossible to recruit to Manhattan anyway, you might as well get the sloppiest oldest non-recruiting dudes you can find. I'm sure he can coach 'em the hell up.

Yep. Lotta "wisdom" in that group.

Does he have a fivehead or is it just his terrible receding hairline that makes it look that way?

Impressive hire by Old Ballz. At least we don't have to worry about this guy going anywhere. Definitely the type that is in it to collect a paycheck until the staff is cleaned out again in a couple years.
Jesus, Bill, just name a replacement and get back to the grandkids.

K-State appears to be a great place for an assistant to come in, pick up $150 to $300K a year for a couple of years, and then get the resume brushed up for when the plug has to finally be pulled on Snyder Part II.

Not quite. Everyone in Tulsa, EVERYONE Hates Keith Burns. He sucked here and burned every bridge when he left. He should not even talk about coming into Tulsa. Jason and Freddie Kruger are much more welcome here.

It's Burns!!! :flamethrower:

His TV Documnetaries on PBS about the Civil War and on the history of baseball were both top shelf.

Dudes were, apparently, good enough coordinators to get their own head gigs somewhere. :dunno: Having a former HC as your DBacks coach isn't exactly a bad thing. Sure beats Prince's last two staffs. :yuck:

Apparently Ron Prince was good enough for a head coaching gig as well.

And there you have it. All KSU fans want or need is "slightly better than Prince". :flush:

Lol. I really thought it would take our fanbase three to four solid years to get to this point. The rock bottom expectations are way ahead of schedule.

I know I harped on it a lot, but maybe I need to issue a mea culpa about the MU game in regards to my harping about the lack of passing. Navy showed us that we didn't really have many athletes on this team, and frankly you have to question the overall offensive execution to boot.
It takes a lot of pretty bad football, execution and play calling to go 10 consecutive quarters without scoring a touchdown (2 fumbles at the goal line during the streak are noted).
I see a guy like Burns, and I don't hold out much hope that we'll be landing enough athletes on the recruiting trail to make that much of a difference.
-
Waters! Calm thy selves! :impatient:

Who were some of you expecting as a DB coach? Urban Meyer? I think a lot of you just enjoy bitching and moaning about every decision.
As I recall the football team did look a lot better in 09 then 08. As long as that curve continues on the upswing, who cares who the defensive backs coach is!!

No, if this was a young, sexy recruiter, I would be happy. Just because I don't want the sloppiest looking loser on SJSU's staff doesn't mean I'll only be happy if we hire Urban Meyer.

Great post. I enjoyed those movies also. Was disappointed/bored by the National Parks documentary last year, though. And I would've preferred Leavitt anyway.
-
When he played God in those movies I was really young but still thought they were hilarious.

* Departure of defensive coordinator Keith Burns: A terrific guy and very good coach who was the victim of bad timing.
Had Dick Tomey retired a year ago, Burns would have been a frontrunner for the job, perhaps even the favorite. :woohoo:
But as the man in charge of the No. 109th -ranked defense in the country in ‘09, Burns would have been a tough, tough sell to the football donors and fans who were desperate for a new direction.

EDIT: I don't see GG on the staff yet.

and from the same blog
* And finally, a behind-the-scenes note: Stacy Martin, the super-sharp CFO who played a critical role in helping Tom Bowen restructure the athletic department, has taken an administrative position at Kansas State (much closer to home).
Martin was considered demanding but fair by coaches and staffers — a difficult combination to pull off when you’re in charge of the budget.
