Title: Haverhill is now Insight Bowl bound!
Post by: Haverhill on December 28, 2009, 07:41:18 AM
Hopping on a plane headed out of DSM (in the enormous Des Moines Metropolis) later today for Tempe, Arizona and the Insight Bowl. Hopefully Tempe will be 'Every Man A Cyclone' making Tempe and ASU, 'Jack Trice South' for the week. The 24-23 loss to Kansas State does not hurt as bad now, because although we lost the battle... we won the war. Enjoy the Flint Hills of Kansas this week!! I'll be in the Desert of the Sun.

How long of a tractor ride was it to the airport? Do they have special tractor parking lots at the Des Moines airport?

Kinda agree on this.  Fans of other schools using "Every Man a..." is like white people using the "N" word.

With the snow in IA and the lack of tractor parking in AZ there will only be 20k ISU fans.

But Hav, have fun I guess and next time your team goes to a bowl you can act like you have been there before.

I seriously doubt that every living ISU fan will make the trip.  Hell, you just gave two very good reasons many of them won't make it to Tempe.  I expect roughly 90 Cyclones fans to show up.  And they will willingly take it in the pooper from any Minnesotan that walks by.  Yes, even if that Minnesotan is all alone.

Almost every ISU fan has shot this guy down as well for going over here and talking trash.

Please don't base our entire fanbase upon this instance. Nobody agreed with what he's started here, and we all feel its bush league. We Iowa State fans were thrilled to be headed to any bowl this year given our recent drought, and the Insight Bowl was better than any rational fan could've hoped for this year. Great destination and against a very beatable BCS conference foe.

But I digress, best of luck to your K-State Wildcats in basketball this season as well as football in the following seasons. I'm already looking forward to playing you guys at Arrowhead again next season. Had a blast this past year, can't wait to do it again!  :)

Haverhill, is the Insight Bowl the pinnacle for ISU Football?

Serious question...

The pinnacle would either be the 1977 Peach Bowl or our 8-4 season earlier in the decade.

Games this season that go ahead of the KSU game in importance...

Iowa... Loss
Nebraska... Win
Minnesota (bowl game)... Win

I suppose you can think you were our bowl game, but we had more important games.

Ok?

Minnesota took 1,500; Missouri only promised to take 3,000

Iowa State took 15,000 and likely sold 5-10,000 more directly through Insight. I think that is pretty good considering we are the 2nd best football team in a state of roughly 3 million people. Insight Bowl reps have had nothing but good things to say about Iowa State before the bowl, during the bowl, and after the bowl.

If you are going to start making numbers up with nothing to support, why not start at 20,000 and go up from there?  That's what ku fans did after the Orange bowl.  We both know MN brought more than 1500 but we can play the turnstile game.
