Post by: Dr.Spaceman on December 26, 2009, 05:56:31 PM
Reports that Urban is stepping down as HC of Florida.  Is he coming to KSU as the new HCIW?   :ohno:

Ron Prince's eyes just got a little twinkle in them . . . finally an opening and program worthy of Ron Prince.

Do you really think he would lower himself to go to Florida?

You learned nothing at all.

I'm sure they'll give Bob Stoops a call. I seem to remember a few weeks ago in my "Rumors" thread I had a story about Urban Meyer leaving Florida but only because Tim Tebow is going to be gone so what else is there to prove. I didn't see "health issues" coming. He had an episode of dehydration recently but you wouldn't have thought that was seroius enough to lead to this.

just crapty for Urban if his health is at serious risk. Cancer is a biyatch. Absolutely hate it..if that is the case.

Otherwise, he's choosing a good time to step down imho.

Page 2 of the Rumors thread is where I originally came up with the "Urban Meyer to leave Florida" idea. I didn't realize that it would be for health concerns but only because since Tebow left he has nothing else to prove.

He was admitted to the hospital with chest pains after the SEC Championship game....

That saban is the devil. He so thouroughly beat FL in the SEC title game that Urban nearly had a HA when he realized he couldnt compete on the same level as Saban.

i bet he could come and be offensive coordinator for snyder. not as much pressure as a head coach. he could do it. then hire him after snyder retires again. Because Snyder and Urban have connections.

best plan ever.   :steadymobbin': :kstatriot: :ksu:

pathetic.

don't act like you called this.   You were calling for Meyer to jump to the NFL.   A blind guess 25% of the posters on football message boards probably made.

You don't by chance run footballcoachscoop.com do you?

I can honestly say I'm looking forward to the entire BCS Bowl season for the first time ever:

BCS Championship Game - The game that everybody has been waiting for all season
Rose Bowl - Going to watch Ohio State get blasted in another BCS game
Sugar Bowl - This just got more interesting with both Cincinnati and Florida in coaching transition and Jesus falling off of the football planet after this game
Fiesta Bowl - Alot of people aren't excited about seeing two of the "little guys" matched up against each other but I'm very intrigued by this
Orange Bowl - Ehhhhh.....4 out of 5 ain't bad and it is the only game of the day

According to ESPN it's a heart muscle defect. It is not considered life threatening but stress and heart muscle defects don't mix. He is going to be re assigned to a job behind the scenes in the Florida athletic department.

1. Bob Stoops
2. Dan Mullen
3. Charlie Strong

Meyer is only 45 and he is stepping down.  What is he going to do with the rest of his life?  Give him a couple of years off and he will coach again.  His name will pop up with every single head coaching vacancy in a bcs conference down the line.

Apparently you didn't read the part about heart muscle defect and the negative consequences stress has on the heart in general.

Notredamerulez had an interesting hypothesis, which I trust because he's a doctor:

"It is my medical opinion that Nick Saban probably poisoned Urban Meyer's flip-cup."

Strong and Mullen just got to their respective jobs so I can't imagine them leaving already. Especially Strong since he hasn't coached a game yet.

Catfan once again whiffs on being a "scooper"

Florida just announced that one of the assistants will be coach.  Offensive coordinator, I believe.   Didn't catch it all.

Don't be silly.  It's a health issue, he's not just quitting to go play golf and smoke cigars all day.  He's not going to have second thoughts about keeping his heart healthy.

An ESPN link means nothing to me.

ESPN is 75% rumors and bogus "reports."

If he really does come back and coach despite being told not to, then he deserves to die.

Not to hate on the KSUFans affiliate but ESPN has become the TMZ of sports....(I copyrighted that phase, please include me as your source if you ever use that quote)
