I've been getting into his music. I really love his songwriting, and can't believe I've waited this long to get into his stuff. So far I have Blood on the Tracks, Times They Are A Changin' and Blonde On Blonde... Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I should go next?

To a singer you can understand?

The Freewheelin bob dylan (His best Album IMO)

Highway 61 revisited
I think this might be next, good call. I watched "I'm Not There" last week and discovered "Ballad of a THin Man".
My favorite song of his so far is "Idiot Wind". Vicious!
-
I'm a big fan of the 3-disk, "Bootleg Series".
Agree w/ Cire on Hwy61 and Freewheelin' for regular albums.

To a singer you can understand?
That statement seems overblown. I've actually had no trouble understanding him.
-
Exact title is "The Bootleg Series, Vols. 1-3: Rare And Unreleased, 1961-1991"
vol.2 is my all-time fave
True Dylan fans must hear his poem "Last thoughts on Woody Guthrie" (vol.1)
-
Yeah, I understand "live '75" is solid, with a superb version of '...Hattie Carroll.

I just looked this up. Looks like a lot of gems in there... I saw one of the songs is called "Wallflower". I wonder if that had anything to do with Jakob's band name.

Also, I'm told to avoid his "Born again" phase.

absolutely.
-
Also his recent stuff (much of which is critically acclaimed) isn't great either.

strongly agreed.

i happen to have his entire discography. not a huge fan, but respect. if you have a way of me getting it to you i'd be willing to share the wealth.
-
I feel about 10 years younger after reading this thread...not dogging the music, probably good stuff.

Huge Bob Dylan fan here (obviously). Here is my ranking of the best albums of all time:
1. Highway 61 (revisited)
2. Bringing it all back home
3. Blood on the tracks
4. Blonde on Blonde
5. Love and Theft
6. Bringing it all Back home
7. Nashville Skyline
8. The Freewheelin Bob Dylan
9. Another Side of Bob Dylan
10. Dylan and the Dead
Any of the bootleg series is a good choice. My favorite recording of all time is the "Judas" version of Like A Rolling Stone on the Prince Albert Hall concert, which I think is bootleg series #4. Let me know if you have any questions, and stay as far away as you can from any of his Christian albums.

He doesn't sing just whines most of the time especially with the decades.
Nice yotube vid of him trying 'girl from the north country' with J. Cash.
The guy is completely overrated and became a cult figure like some other crap folk singers.
-
You are trash.

Not that big on Dylan, but the soundtrack to Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is a delight.

He did write songs sympathetic toward the civil rights movement, so it's not really shocking you don't like him.

Srslly. He whines. He whines. He whines. He wouldn't know pronunciation rule if it bit him in the ass.

I don't think you're a Nazi. But as the resident racist I don't expect you to like his music.

I'm not a big Dylan fan but do like Blood on the Tracks, especially Tangled up In Blue, but I do like his music performed, interperted, by other artists.
-
His MTV Unplugged from the 90's is pretty damn awesome. Highway 61 revisited is my fav original album.
