Title: Should Prince try....
Post by: McGrowlTowelZac on November 03, 2006, 03:54:41 PM
Some Thursday night games on ESPN?  Assuming we could get one or two?  I think it could be a good idea.  Its primetime exposure, and I don't mind the thursday game.

I remember just one time during the Snyder era, when we played ISU and won.  I like it though, don't really see any major downsides.  Seems like Virgina Tech always has a thursday night game each year.

Sounds bold and daring to me

The other Thursday game I remember on Thursday night was KSU/ku in '94.

Louisville will probably be a Thursday night game, but only because it will be under the Big East package.

I don't think Thursday night games are part of the Big XII TV package.

I was thinking about this last night, though:  I wonder how the ratings of an ESPN Thursday night game compare to a 2:30 Saturday ABC game.

Here's a great post I made on another board regarding our TV contract:

Quote
The Big XII needs to go with Fox (not just Fox Sports) and have a exclusive national telecast on the Fox over-the-air network of at least one Big XII football or basketball game every Saturday from August to March.

It would be worth giving up Big Monday (which is really all ESPN does for us.)

Ya, because neither the #3 ranked WVU team or that #5 ranked Louisville team is worth a F*CK.   :ustupid:

i remember a butt ass cold thursday nighter against isu.  back in the day when you didn't need a ticket to get in, and security smiled at the litre of old charter you were carrying.

As far as I know we're 2 for 2 when it comes to Thursdays and pulling the goal posts down.  Regardless of where the game is played.

The 21-13 win in Lawrence with Chad May going nuts and Mitch Running nearly getting his head torn off was a fun night.  Good times in the mid 90s.

Its funny how I forgot about that game...considering I was there. I guess, I just forgot it was a thursday game.  I was like 14, a jayhawk friend had one ticket, so he went in with his ticket, came out another gate and got his hand stamped for re-entry.  I was waiting in the parking lot, he came out, we put the back of our hands together, and wa-la, my hand was stamped for entry.  The little old jayhawk lady at the gate, never saw it coming.

It was great running on to that field, I waved back at my jayhawk friend as I went on to the field...good times.
