Title: Mangino's Buyout
Post by: pissclams on December 16, 2009, 05:02:15 PM
$3M.

But he hit players and was fired for cause.  And Lew had no agenda to get rid of him.

ku, the gift that just keeps giving.  Sad, really   :crybaby:

Quote
In the agreement, ku revealed that it has drawn up and delivered to Mangino on Dec. 2 a draft termination letter, which would have been effective Dec. 3. In exchange for ku revoking that termination letter, and "nullifying" the informal internal investigation that had been ongoing, Mangino agreed to the settlement.

He resigned, damnit!  :nono:

i just don't understand why ku would pay $3m that they didn't have to when they could have used that money to resurface the track at Memorial Stadium?

So they were going to fire him but said you could take 3 million and run? What part of this makes since. Lew Perkins loves to throw around money I guess.

That's 437, 956 Chipotle Burritos...not adjusting for taxes and inflation.

I'm jealous as hell of the big man....

Let put on our conspiracy hats.

So let me get this straight; ku (Lew) sends him a "draft" termination letter.   Mangino responds and says, drop the internal investigation and give me $3 million and I'll resign . . . ku says okay.

What else did Mangino's people tell Lew in their response??

Well considering the entire buy out was 6 million and they bought him out for 3 million it tells me that there was dirt on both sides that each wanted to keep silent.

If Lew really had all the goods on MM he would have gotten zip, zero, nada for breach of contract.

there's no buyout when you beat players to within inches of their lives, imo

I agree but Lew had something on MM or he would have have gotten the full 6.6 million. We will probably never know, but one thing is for certain MM ran a dirty program as is evidenced by the ncaa probabtion.

The counterpoint to that is that Mangino had something on ku/lew and thus got the $3 million.

Yea I said as much, that is why it was split down the middle. ku has ran a dirt athletic department for several decades now, I do not see that changing anytime soon.

my guess is that they are hiding the rest of the money somehow. Similar to a RP situation.

I would agree. It doesn't make sense that someone as agressive as Mangino would settle for $3 million with no cause. :AA:

How does this impact the (desparately needed) waterproofing for the endzone bleacher recliners?

ukans bird logos to be waterproofed...rest of the seat must be Scotchgarded at the expense of the respective fan's time/money/effort upon first seating of the 2010 season.
