per TOS
(# is national rank)
1. Texas (Geezus Mack) . . . and I'd also like to point out that Mack Brown is money. Think about this, while at UNC he got a basketball school to build him a $50 million dollar (that's $50 million in 1997 dollars) Football Center. When he went to Texas, he got DeLoss Dodds to dump over $175 Million Dollars into Football Facilities. The man's football program generates $87 million dollars a year, and he makes $5 million a year. A bonafide Stud if there ever was one.
6. OU
11. Texas A&M . . . they had a young team this year, and they are recruiting well.
17. Missouri . . . From a recruiting and staff maintenance standpoint Pinks is everything Bill Snyder isn't, and no, don't give me this tard crap about all the "advantages" mu has, you've still got to perform, and Pinks is kicking ass on the recruiting trail.
26. Oklahoma State . . . the only reason why I could imagine this is so low (relatively speaking) is that they've still got battle the powerhouse usual suspects. Other than that, their facilities are completely off the got damn hook.
31. Texas Tech . . . :piratecaptain:
33. Nebraska
40. ku . . . hang your head in shame Bill Snyder
46. Iowa State . . . cry yourself to sleep Bill Snyder
52. Baylor . . . Have another Werthers Bill.
54. Kansas State . . .
67. Colorado

Pinkel 38 Snyds 12.
Remember that one? JFC.
-
yes fatty . . . and that game once again showed me that for all the talk, Snyder still hasn't changed his way.

Since I know some will call it unfair, because the first set of numbers are based on total points, here's the rankings based on average points.
Texas 3.81
OU 3.48
A&M 3.43
MU 3.32
NU 3.19
OSU 3.12
ku 3.06
KSU 3.00
ISU 2.61
BU 2.60
CU 2.55
So now I ask, are some of these grayshirts going to be worth it??

Dax I completely agree with you on the laughable recruiting rankings that Snyder has aquired. However the guy some how gameplans and had us in every freaking game (save TTU and Mizzou). If we have somewhat of a pulse of a playmaker at QB I imagine those would've been closer. QB will be the recruiting problem for Snyder, the rest is pretty whatever imho. So lets laugh at the QB recruiting and sit in awe at how the hell he wins with kids that no one else seems to want.
fwiw, Ron Prince would probably have higher recruiting ratings than Snyds

doesn't mean they'd all show. Also word on the street, Bill Miller isn't gonna return to ku. Can't confirm it, but that wouldn't hurt us at all.
-
Yep it's over for ol KSU. Is GPat still available? Next year's games will simply be scored by adding up star rankings and averaging them out.
-
I wish we had GP :curse:
-
Perhaps Prince could have a higher recruiting rating than Snyder, however Prince couldn't/can't coach. What Snyder did with that rag tag bunch last year was impressive and thus defines coaching.

And recruiting "points" and class rankings are so overrated and a bunch of bullcrap in my opinion. Do the research and look at how many "top 10" recruiting classes Tom Osborne had. Look at what Bill Callahan recruited. You still have to have the player that "want" to play and coaches to develop the talent to perform on the field. I really wouldnt worry about a low recruiting ranking, Snyder is a good coach and K-state will be #2 in the North, and the will beat Pinky and Missouri. Gravy train is over and they know.

They didn't have the same types of recruiting services back when Osborne was still coaching.
Like Barry Switzer said, it ain't the X's and the O's, it's the Willies and the Mo's. X'ing and O'ing only gets you so far . . . coaching up "diamonds in the rough" only gets you so far.

Is anyone surprised? Snyds recruiting hasn't been worth a crap for a DECADE!!!

Still recruiting role players and not playmakers

FWIW...A&M has almost never not outranked at least 8 of the other Big XII schools since the beginning of the league, and they are pretty much trash...so I think the rankings should only be based on key positions. Ratings on DEs, QBs, LTs, CBs...yes please. Ratings on RG, LS, P, RB, WR, TE...who cares? Really can throw off the value of these classes year in and out: see A&M.

More like 6 years. His '04 class was top-20. Plus, it would probably be prudent to actually wait until this class is signed before we cast judgement.

That class was absolutely worthless. And is a perfect example of how bad snyds had gotten.

I would much rather have a coach who is a great recruiter than a coach who is a great X's and O'er.

and then there is both.
See ya Mangino. whew. So Glad he's gone.

Coach Snyder is a great coach but it does seem like the game entire game has passed him by, granted we will probably be bowl eligible next year but with Koennings going to Illinois (at best a lateral) and our diamal recruitng efforts I just can't see another 93-03 myself. Hopefully he will fill the vacant position with a young coach that can recruit (preferably texas).
Don't get me wrong, I really liked the progress last season but it does take talent to win at the big 12 level and personally I see several programs that we will be looking up to in that regard. Coach em up Bill!

Kyle Williams, Nick Patton, Figurs, T George, Fisher, Ced Williams, Ryan Schmidt, Bedore... Doesn't seem like a sucky class to me.

6 contributers out of an entire class? The best was a juco that had 1 good year.
Awesome.

I agree with you 100%. You cant fill your team with walkon caliber players and expect to compete, but the point I was making is that you dont have to have Pete Carroll-loaded with 5 star talent all over the field-classes to compete either. Yes you do need a couple 3 bigtime playmakers, but overall, it is still a lot about desire and passion. How many times you see a big time blue chip completely flop and some nobody "1 or 2 star" become a complete stud. Examples here would be Curt Dukes, a bigtime option qb recruit who redshirted to 02 season, and literally went to the coaches and said he didnt think he was ready, and eventually transferrerd and still never saw the field. Then there's Joe Ganz, he was just a quick pickup in Callahan's 1st recruiting class and turned out to be pretty darn good.
