Title: Even Brian Kelly says it was a good call in the UT vs Garbage Nebraska
Post by: Pete on December 06, 2009, 07:57:47 PM
When the ENTIRE ESPN on-air crew said it was a legit call, I was like "Yep."

But, to hear it from the man lost out on a chance to play for the National Championship, I was thinking "How the &@#% can Pelini argue this?"  What a horrible human being.

how about this one:

ARTICLE 6. No other plays or officiating decisions are reviewable. However, the replay official may correct egregious errors, including those involving the game clock, whether or not a play is reviewable. This excludes fouls that are not specifically reviewable.

I'm not sure that means what you think it means.  I interpret that to mean that a pass that was ruled backwards on the field can be reviewed and overturned and called a forward incomplete pass (thus negating what would have been a turnover if recovered by the defense).  However, if a pass is ruled a forward pass and the play is blown dead by the official, they can't go back and call it a backwards pass.

What's lost in this discussion is that it wasn't whether the pass was catchable or out of bounds, but what should the time be on the clock for the next play if any.   On such a play it would definitely be hard to keep track of when to stop the clock.   The pass was not reviewable, but determining the time was.

There were about 4 major botched calls in the game. The last incomplete pass was not one of them. You have to be an idiot (RE: NU fans) to think otherwise.

come on NU fan and NU coaches.  You played a good game you showed well.  Don't ruin it by being a bunch of whiney cry babies.  Have not heard a single person aside from NU fans say it was a bad call.  Clock situations are reviewable get over it.

g. A pass ruled forward or backward when thrown from behind the line of scrimmage. (Exception: If the pass is ruled forward and is incomplete, the play is not reviewable).

Anyone who thinks this is referring to your case is an absolute idiot. So I'm sure every Husker fan has recieved and forwarded this in an email. "You can't review any incomplete forward passes ever I knew it. I've gotta call Bo!"
