ku fan's love for Mangino (up until 3 weeks ago) is almost as stupid as their love for Lew Perkins.
Lew's resume
-Left cave for first time....2000 B.C.
-Befriended a triceratops....1999 B.C.
-Invented "fire"....time unknown
-Hired Bonnie Hendrickson....2004....Bonnie is garbage, yet he's refused to fire her. It appears as though she's in the middle of her "Mangino Moment" as she finally has her women's team cracking the Top 25 after 5+ seasons. Party in AFH!!
-Extended/gave raise to Mark Mangino....2007....at the time Mangino had a Big 12 conference record of 18-29.
-Installed leather recliners in the endzone at Memorial Stadium...2008
-Threw Mark Mangino under the bus and destroyed his character in the media...2009.
-Fired Mark Mangino....2009....2 years after extending the big man's contract through 2012, Lew fires him.
Did I miss anything?
The only person I want in Lawrence more than Mark Mangino is Lew Perkins.
What a complete idiot assclown.
What didn't he do?
-Hire Bill Self
-Hire Mark Mangino
-Fix Memorial Stadium
-Anything productive

what a complete joke of a program

Left Wichita State after killing football program.
Maryland held a party after he left their program.
Cheated so thoroughly at UCONN, that the NCAA had to give him immunity to learn the depth of the rabbit hole.

jeez, all great stuff! you go Lew!

What an awkward torso that man has.

Lew's probably going to get either
(a) Sumlin: overall record as a head coach 18-7, beat #5 OSU in stillwater, has served under coaches like Bob Stoops, RC Slocum, MIke Price, and Dennis Erickson, has the #1 Total and Scoring Offense in the country.
or
(b) Harbaugh: overall record as a head coach 46-25, beat #24 Washington, #7 oregon, #11 USC, took Stanford which hadn't had a winning season in the 5 years prior to his arrival and has them at 8-4 in 3 years.
Lew's incredibly smart.

are you saying that those are two really good coaching options? serious question.

much like Frank Martin, Mangino gets way too much credit for just not sucking like the last guy. Sumlin and Harbaugh have actual proven track records as head coaches and have been successful given their situations and circumstances. IMO, those two are upgrades to Mangino.
Who the hell do you think KSU is going to get when our senior citizen retires? Our top end is going to be a Harbaugh or Sumlin-esque hire.

If he gets those guys I'll give him props but I don't think he'll get either. Both are working on extensions at their currrent schools and both will have better options if they want to leave in the future. ku does have one advantage this year in that the jobs that are out there mostly suck.

if i was car shopping and deciding between a porsche and a mercedes, would it take an incredible amount of brains to pick either?

I don't know what analogy to use to retort to this, but lew found a way to turn his dodge voyage lease into a mercedes or a porsche. Basically, if Lew gets any of those two, he's upgrading from what he currently has. I'd also consider Strong an upgrade. Fedora would be slightly better. Esdall or Cromwell would be an epic failure.
ku is paying their freaking (ex)coach 2.3million. That's nearly triple what Sumlin and Harbaugh are currently getting paid. Louisville, who's apparently looking at Strong and Sumlin, were only paying Kragthorpe 1.1m.

Zacker, sumlin's resume sucks.

Neither of those coaches are going to leave for ku. LMAO
-
Lew helped run out Roy and look how the basketball team is doing now.
Expect the opposite for football. They can't hire a coach until they renovate my huge elephant wash station of a bathroom.
-
it doesn't take incredible smarts to fire Mangino and hire a good coach. it just doesn't. the way lew has gone about this is incredibly dumb.
-
the love for lew will probably end up in my "ku fans are retarded and wrong about everything thread"
-
The only positive thing Lew has done at uk is buy their way into the O-Bowl. Which their superb head football coach won for them.
