He won at Oklahoma State and beat Texas Tech (something Mangino never did).  The guy would be a big-time hire.

NO WAY@

The feeling on phog.net is that if Lew can find a way to fire ku's best coach they've had in years...that he'll find a way to hire the best coach in the nation.

Sumlin did what Pat Hill has done with Fresno St.

Take down some BCS teams in September..only to fall off a cliff when the chips are down in their own conference.

Sumlin would be by far the best hire out of that group.

Doubt Bob stoops would encourage him to go to ku though imo.

Seriously, I can't wait to see what joke of a coach ku trots out there next season.   :lol: at anyone who thinks it will be anyone worth a damn.  Also,  :lol: at fracking dumbass ku fans talking about stuff like this ---->http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=172&f=2485&t=5237852 .  Is this markp68 fracking insane or just in denial.  The toilet is swirling and they just don't want to admit it.
This was my favorite:
Quote
Whomever he is, the next coach is looking at this schedule for his first season:

@Southern Miss

Georgia Tech at home

@ Baylor

Okie State and aTm at home

KSU and CU at home

@ISU

@NU

MU at Camarohead

Whomever he is, the next coach is looking at a golden opportunity to go 8-4 in his first season and score a nice bowl win.  Actually, golden is probably understating it.

A golden opportunity to go 8-4, which the 2006 team should have done, and then in 2011 win the North.  Not a bad start to your ku career.

i think people are underestimating the kind of pressure lew is under to make a good hire.  desparation leads to something good or something bad.  sumlin, harbough, fedora, gill or strong would be good hires, imo.  now, if they end up for cromwell or esdall then lol.  I'm glad to see venzy isn't on that list though.

Let us know when the short list includes someone who has been recognized as 1) the best assistant coach in the nation or 2) the best head coach in the nation.  Or both.

I like Edsall as a coach, not sure how he is as a recruiter though. He may not have many ties in Big 12 country.

Just a reminder, Terry Allen is available, if Lew really wants to go back to the true Kansas football tradition...

Most coaches know they won't go to a program that just let go of a legend, so they'll end up hiring a "Ron Prince" type who will promise big thing and the proceed to crap down further.

The sad thing about Mangino.. he can't come back.

ku going into the toilet forever.
