ku doesn't seem like a bad gig really. they are apparently willing to pay and their fans are happy with average to below average results.

only bad aspect of the job would be trying to recruit to lawrence kansas given the fact that they are an hours drive from an airport with actual airlines that fly into it. has anybody ever driven from lawrence to mci? i have. wow. just wow. absolutely nothing for as far as the eye can see.

Pretty similar to driving from Ames to DSM.

Two things:
1)  That picture doesn't even look like Jim Harbaugh

2)  Jim Harbough is a FP and would make a great fit at uk.  Remember when Ditka chewed his azz so hard for checking off a play on the goal line and throwing a pick, that he made Harbaugh cry on the sidelines.  One of the funniest moments in NFL history.  That kind of crybaby, choke under pressure attitude would fit in well at uk.  What a b*tch.

P.S.
I would want to leave Stanford at all cost, place is a dump, and that douche John Elway played there.

I hope they do hire Harbaugh.

17-19 at Stanford, 4 losses this year, including a loss to a very, very, very mediocre Wake Forest team, and they needed everything they could muster to beat a 6-6 Notre Dame team at home . . . and they lost at home the previous week to Cal.

Why? $$$$$$$$ Stanford is paying him something like 600K. Lew upped mangino's pay for a reason because he was going to gas him from the start. A 12-1 season got in the way ;) I won't be shocked if they get a name cause they are paying a lot for the position even if it isn't a great job. Tripling one's pay and going to an area with a lot lower cost of living might be attractive. I know nothing about Harbaugh but I bet he will listen to what ever snakeoil lew is trying to sell. Might get him more $$$ at Stanford to show interest elsewhere.

Somebody's going to take the ku job, not saying Harbaugh but then again I would not be shocked if he did either. Those saying Michigan, I just don't see it. Harbaugh's record at Standford is not that great, granted he has had a nice season this year but I think Michigan would shoot higher if they gas their coach. The only thing he has going is he is a Michigan alum the overall record is not that impressive IMO.

I think it would be great if Harbaugh was hired at ku . . . he has a system that's probably going to win 7 or 8 games a year usually, but a system that if we could ever get back to true Mob type defenses . . . said defense would more times than not eat it alive.

I agree, given his resume to date I would not be scared if they hired him, to be honest I think they are gassing a better coach IMO.

He hasn't been setting the world on fire, but...he took a crapty San Diego team and built back to back 11-1 seasons.  Also, Stanford won one game the year before he took over, so its not like he inherited a juggernaut.

I didn't say he wasn't doing a good job at Stanford . . . my own impression is that he'd be a 6-7-8 win a season type of guy at ku, but ku would play good ball and be competitive.

From a K-State perspective, if we can ever get our defense back to the old Mob level . . . the Mob more times than not ate Harbaugh style offenses for lunch.

I think that being an 8-9 win team in the years we have the heavy south rotation consistently would be the next level for this program. I don't expect BCS every year, I just want consistency regardless of the schedule.  I think Harbaugh could get us there, but lets face it, he's a long shot at this point.  The one thing for sure is that the North is so crappy right now, there is the opportunity for any coach to assert a team as the power, and the next guy for us can hopefully build off what Mangino started

 well it is good you don't expect a bcs every year because you didn't deserve the one you got anyway. The last time you shared a conference title in football was 41 years ago and the last outright conference championship in football was in 1930, 79 years ago. 2007 was pure smoke & mirrors, no matter if you want to admit or not. ku football head coach is a tough job for anyone taking it, period.

We are now finishing year 14 in the big 12 and ku has yet to play in the big 12 championship game, 0-fer 14 and not likely to change anytime soon. Sorry to throw facts your way but I give ku a 25% chance or less of hiring a better coach than you just fired.

Before you fire back at me on this just look at the past several coaches that have been at ku. Heck if lew wouldn't have fired mangino he would have been become your all winning coach next season at 53 (presently 50-48). Pathetic no matter what colored glasses you are looking through :jerkoff:

Well . . . okay I guess.   I still see the "heavy South Rotation" years as 6 or 7 win years at best for ku . . . but things could change.   Particuarly if we get shakeup in the South Coaches.

I find it humorous that even as a homer you think you can build on what Mangino started despite a 5-7 season and dragging your best ever qb and coach through crap.

So I can't be optimistic?  Trust me, you guys showed how quickly you can go from good to sh*tter by hiring the wrong coach, and you should be  :ohno: about what happens when Snyds leaves again.  But its not like Mango was dominating this league.  We have better facilities than we have ever had before, I choose to believe that the right hire can be better than Mangino was on a consistent basis.  We can find plenty of guys to go 5-7 or 6-6.

Good luck dude, I think you fired a pretty darn good coach. We will see how the next one fares, ku is not a football school and 50-48 with 4 bowls in 8 years is not exactly horrible by anyone's standards.

I hope your next coach isn't mean to your football players in practice settings

Better facilities...eh?
Do you have a $70,000+ private bath over there in AFFC for the new coach...or did they decide to retain towel boy for those duties?
