Title: Ojeleye and Merriewether
Post by: GoodForAnother on December 01, 2009, 10:00:08 PM
Could we somehow combine them?  Some sort of genetic splicing thing?  With Merriewether's ability to hustle and fall down a lot on defense and Ojeleye's ability to make layups off of sloppy rebounds by more talented players, we might be able to get an All Sun Belt type player out of them.

This would also save a scholarship.  Thoughts?

Why? Ojeleye + Merriewether = Ojeleye or Merriewether.

In other words, 0 + 0 = 0.

I'd assign Ojeleye a value of 0.5 just because he has some offensive ability. I think I'll give Merriewether a value -1.

This

Vic looked like a starter for Wooly.  CM looks &@#%ing terrible. FHSU wouldn't want him over their white kid back ups.

The new being (Ojewether?) would also be like 12 feet tall (maybe 13 almost?) which would also be good.

If Oj's bro is any good, might be worth it?  :dunno:

Marry weather  :chainsaw: I thought he came in for defense and hustle.  He got burned at least 3 times on back doors that he didn't even know were happening.  And have you noticed he has to always be touching someone during dead ball time? patting Samuals on the head, putting his arm around people before freethrows.  Why do they need to huddle up before free throws?  He seems to be the only one who likes to do this.

Don't anyone forget, this (^) is the overall picture.

What I don't get is Frank said he played the players that wanted to be there and wanted to win- players who bought into the system. So why the frack were CM and VO playing? They didn't look any better than Kelly and Sutton. I love how all the tards say that Merriewhether is good on defense, yet he is one of the worst defenders on the team. The guy can't score for his life either. He played what, 20+ minutes last night and score one fracking basket? Pathetic. Ojeleye is more of a scoring threat, but he can't play defense. We aren't going to beat good teams with those two tards on the floor, especially at the same time.

Yeah, they are both pretty horrible at everything.  But I think Frank likes that they "try" more than anything.

the only way you can make your program attractive to elite level walkons is to demonstrate a commitment to playing those walkons you have.

have to think long-term.

Yeah, guess I don't see much upside to elite walkons.  (oxymoron)

Other than encouraging scholarship players to "buy in".

Good posts above.  Merri played badly for Merri, he's had much better games here.  And while Oj had moments, he played some terrible defense and dumb turnovers.  But yeah, it proves a point and they probably never complain, never give attitude, and you never have to check their grades or if they are in class.

But it proves a point, and I really doubt Frank "decided" to prove his point 5 minutes or whatever into the game last night.  Frank has probably been waiting to do this for a couple weeks and he and the coaches probably went back into the office after the game, had a little laugh, and the started talking about Washington State and how hard they were going to bust the players today at practice.

Bet they sat back and laughed at Stanbot's glitch at the "buy in or quit" comment on the DVR'd postgame interview.

I don't think VO is generally that bad...if he could be more of an offensive threat, he has a great build for a forward but needs a few more inches, needs to get his head around the D.
CMerr on the other hand,  :yuck:
However, I don't care that they are getting minutes in this part of the season:
A. it sends a message
B. if we get in foul trouble or Martin doesn't like how our guys are playing when we're against stiffer competion, they won't be running around like chickens with their heads chopped off, not having a clue what's going on.

I guess I just have a soft spot for the underdog

We'll know a little more if these guys are getting serious minutes against WSU. We can afford to give them plenty of minutes against FHSU. However, against WSU Saturday is no time to prove any points. We have to play our best players to win that game (i.e. no CM or VO). I couldn't care less if CK has bought into the system or not. I couldn't care less that the only reason CK is putting up numbers is because he's athletic. Fact is, he's putting up numbers, which helps us win a hell of a lot more games than CM who plays 20 minutes, gets 0 points, 2 rebounds and 4 fouls.
