Title: double doors
Post by: fatty fat fat on November 30, 2009, 01:14:31 PM: one of my best traits is i hold doors open for people if you are w/n striking distance (<10 feet).

however, if there is a double door, and yo do not say thank you or give slight acknowledgment after the first door, i will visibly shut the 2nd door on the person and looked pissed.

kind of silly, or legit?

Post by: steve dave on November 30, 2009, 01:24:32 PM: prolly legit. But, at the same time, I hate it when there are like three doors in a row and the person says thank you three times. Gets awkward. The first thank you is enough for me to get the next two doors for you.

Totally legit. I usually just say "you're welcome" in kind of a loud/annoyed type of voice. Prolly makes them feel horrible.

Kind of along the same lines one of my best traits is how warmly I smile and sincerely thank anyone who holds the door open for me.

Typically when I hold a door for someone I'm still the first one to the next door. Unless they are really old people or have their hands full in which case I'll stand and hold the door from behind while they enter. On a "stand and hold from behind" I expect a sincere verbal thank you. No amount of subsequent door holding will appease me.

i agree this can get really tricky when there are multiple doors. My friends and I use this when nobody wants to be the first one into a restaurant or party. I usually try to be the last one in and look totally nonchalant and cool.

Great point sys. I will stagger my walking pace so as to assure nobody holds the door for me on the way into work.

guilty as charged. i'm a classic overholder. always get stuck in the middle area between the person being too far for me to hold it and too close for me not too. always make the wrong "call" too, and end up smashing it in people's faces or waiting 12-13 minutes for them to get to the door.

make the other person touch the door handle and expose themselves to the myriad of germs that door handles collect. moral of story? be nice, hold door, get sick.

And I hate the doors you push too hard, crashing into the wall, making you look like a dildo, which I am.

All while trying to be a gentleman and holding the door for a pretty lady, or an ugly one with a great ass.
