Favorite - Stuffing (I'd eat nothing but stuffing if I could and prefer others take theirs first) and the fact that there's football for basically 5 days straight

Least - Can't really think of anything that I don't like about Thanksgiving but if I had to say something it is probably the fact that everybody gets so stressed out. It's not about the meal it's about being around your friends and family so if you have to, not that I'd want to, it's ok to go out to eat. Also that there's no damn reason to have to clean your house from top to bottom to impress people. They're your family so they already know how you live. I'd much rather have people stay at a hotel if I could get others on board with that and if you don't like it I guess you don't have to come

And then there's Christmas. I got this big 'ole Flat Screen TV to watch bowl games on a few years ago and every year we HAVE to go out of town so I've never been able to do so. Is there a state law that you HAVE to spend every holiday around people? Most of them yeah but still.....

I don't get these people who say that hanging out with family is what they hate about Thanksgiving. You wouldn't feel that way if you didn't have one.

Other non-fav: Driving, not that I drive a lot.  Going back to work Monday.

Thanksgiving football - I guess it's ok that Detroit gets the early game because everybody's eating so it's mostly missed. I guess the Cowboys are "America's Team" but do they have to play the Raiders? The Giants - Broncos game could be kinda fun to watch but Texas - Texas A&M will be going on by then.

Do you want the games spread around to guarantee that all 32 teams have a shot at the game? I remember when the Chiefs played the Cowboys but if you're with family you're going to miss the game anyway.

Favorite: Just food in general, love the GBC (Grandma won't make it b/c she doesn't like it  :chainsaw:) and yams. Love doing Thanksgiving at my house since I don't have to sit around and have awkward conversation while food cooks, can just watch tv/interwebz while I wait.

Least favorite: Depends. Lots of family, so lots of potential Thanksgiving gatherings (at least until this year). Not being independent enough to choose which family to visit for Thanksgiving is my least favorite. Some are just not as good with the food, some are just annoying as hell to be around even just for a day.

The stuffing was exquisite (I think that's the first time I've ever used that word) as usual and I also learned today that I like pecan pie. Pumpkin.....Not so much but it was still ok!

From OSR:

Quote
“Good turkey, stuffing, candy yams, rice and the biggest chunk of sweet potato pie as you can find.”

That, my K-State friends, is basketball coach Frank Martin’s perfect turkey dinner.

On this day of giving thanks, OSR went to Kansas State’s two basketball programs to get a feel for what the Wildcat coaches, and young people of 2009 are thankful for.

Deb Patterson offered, “I’m so tremendously thankful for being here at Kansas State. I’m thankful for the unbelievable magnitude of blessings from God that I have received, which includes this life that I get to lead. I’m grateful each day to be with the people I’m surrounded by. Those are people I get to love, and they love me.”

Frank Martin said, “I’m thankful for every opportunity that has been given to me in my life. That’s my family, to my professional experiences. That, and the health that the good Lord has given me, my wife, my kids and my mom. That, and all the great players that I’ve been fortunate to coach and be a part of their lives. I’ve been around so many great players that have allowed me to move forward as a basketball coach and make a career out of it.”

And here are the thoughts of several Wildcat basketball players:

Jacob Pullen
“A lot of people don’t get this opportunity to play basketball. A lot of people in high school were ranked ahead of me in Chicago, but as time goes on, they’ve faded away and not had the opportunity to play on the national stage like I am. I give thanks for that every day.”

Taelor Karr
“Family.”

Brittany Chambers
“Family and the gifts God has given me to play college basketball.”

Kelsey Hill
“Family and friends who really care about me.”

Denis Clemente
“I’m thankful for my family, my grandmother got to see me play last week back home (Puerto Rico).”

Brandy Brown
“Opportunities in life and my family.”

Shalin Spani
“The Lord, family, friends, coaches and teammates.”

Dominique Sutton
“My family. I give thanks for having two little girls (3 years and 7 months) and look forward to hearing their voices today.”

Ashley Sweat
“A loving family and amazing teammates and boyfriend.”

Mariah White
“Family and being on a team where we care for each other and love one another as sisters.”

Jamar Samuels
“Being a Wildcat and the opportunities that I’ve had at K-State.”

Jalana Childs
“Getting the opportunity to be a part of something that actually has meaning.”

Alina Voronenko
“Having a Christian family that raised me to not take anything for granted.”

Kari Kincaid
“I have been blessed with a loving, healthy family. I am thankful to play for such a special program with wonderful coaches, teammates and fans.”
