Bold and Daring.

What is the KSU record for first year wins?
-
Is that good or bad?
-
Behind Bielema (who we offerred the job to and is 8-1*) and who?
*Now that's a succession plan.
-
Is that good or bad?
in between.
If we make a bowl in our HC's first year in charge...he'll have snapped a bold and daring broomstick off in most of the "experts" arses. Notably...the KC Star....and more notably....All of the phog.

You know the line will be "Snyder left a ton of returning talent in the program".

Something about that last name just screams intimidation. That'd explain his record.
-
That Pappy Waldorf! People have been trying to measure up to him for decades and nobody can seem to match the success he had at KSU.
-
It's because he bailed after one year, the smart money knows when to walk.
-
Ah, good ol' Zora Clevenger...badass.

I'm glad we were able to defeat Kansas State Teacher's College...
-
Damn. Maybe we do need to schedule cupcakes in order to have success.
-
That's Emporia St for those that don't know.
It was not uncommon in those days to schedule small local colleges or even high schools. The first year my high school had football (1894) we had NU on the schedule (but never actually played). Imagine that nowadays: a 1-7ish high school program vs a good BCS school. That point record by Tennessee would be in serious jeopardy.
-

I'd rather win for reasons other than those listed above.
-
Yep.
In 1897 the lone KSU win was a 4-0 victory over Chapman HS ... Chapman managed a tie in the rematch. KSU's lone win in 1898 was posted against Junction City HS, Chapman HS managed two ties. It was a vastly different game then.
-

:bs: I'll believe that when you stop quoting phog on this site and then responding to the quotes as though you are actually on phog and not this site.
-
Pappy hadMC , henceforth he had MW .
-
Pappy beat NU and OU in the same year. HOWS THAT FOR HISTORY!!! :ksu: I don't wanna hear any more land stealers or bugeaters telling us they got history on us anymore.

"As a matter of fact, (Bielema) did tell me (Kansas State) contacted him," Alvarez said. "Our people that were negotiating with his representation, Bret never brought it up to them and neither did his attorney. That was never brought into negotiation. It wasn't used for leverage. I just knew that Kansas State made a run at him."
Bielema was the co-defensive coordinator at Kansas State in 2002 and 2003, before coming to UW. Bill Snyder retired after this season and the school hired Ron Prince, who had been the offensive coordinator at Virginia.
"At the time the Kansas State job opened, I was already employed here at the University of Wisconsin and named as the next head coach," Bielema said. "I had no interest or desire to pursue anything on that level.
"I'm flattered, humbled, all together in a lot of different ways by any attention that I receive. But the only thing I'm concerned about is the University of Wisconsin."
If anything, Bielema showed his loyalty to UW by spurning advances from Kansas State and Colorado, which was looking for a replacement for Gary Barnett before hiring Boise State coach Dan Hawkins.
One source with knowledge of Bielema's contract negotiations said he turned down an offer of $300,000 more from Kansas State. The source said Bielema's total compensation package is expected to be around $900,000 at UW.
-
Beilema made the right move. I wonder how many retail priced coaches turned us down before we decided to go to the clearance rack?

This was already discussed in that other thread, Rusty. He was not offered at all, and the source was wrong.

You never answered my question in that thread: Did we offer anyone but Prince? If we did...who?
PM me if you want.

Was Alvarez misquoted?
-
Never saw that before. Props to ADTW for making a run at him.
-
Guy Lowman was contacted a week ago about the MSU job, but said he had no interest.
Weiser offered Jim Leavitt, but he didn't want to follow Snyder and said NO. His plan is to watch Prince fail and *then* take the job once expectations have been lowered.

2 more wins and we have a new record!

I wouldn't go too far out on that particular limb until we see how his recruiting develops over the next few years.

It isn't much of a limb. He is already bowl eligible. It just depends on whether or not we will pull an NU and fire Prince even if he gets us nine wins..
-
I'll be damned, Prince really is going to pull it off.
