Title: The cold reality is
Post by: Chingon on November 21, 2009, 09:52:41 PM
KSU is behind the following programs in the North:

Missouri and Nebraska.

We have some catching up to do.  The gap between us and them is bigger than I wanted it to be.  Can we catch them in 5 years? I don't know....

If we hire Patterson, yes.  If not, welcome back to futility U

5 years?  We damn near caught them in one.  It's about W's and Trophy's, not perceived talent.  Year three Bill will surpass them and then pass on the torch.

Nubb losing a lot on defense. Don't see much on offense.

I would like our chances in Manhattan next year.

This was the year to catch them.  This one.  They will only get better in the next two years, while we will be scrambling to fill major holes throughout the whole team (aka Prince's legacy).

It will take more than 5 wins to win the North for the next three years.  Look how many breaks we got just to be in the hunt this year?  Very flukey.

WTF?  Those teams look like they won't be getting measurably better in the near future.

We only have a shot if we find a playmaker at QB.  2nd need would be developing our defensive line.  But if Snder and staff can't find or develop the type of QB his system needs it won't matter.

I don't see Patterson having a better season than Snyder did this year.  Also, I'm not 100% sure Patterson would have been the savior if he'd come here (see Dan Hawkins at Colorado).

We will at least catch up to Missouri (even) in 1 or 2 seasons.  Nebraska may be tougher to catch up to because I think Pelini will build that program to be stronger in the long run than Missouri.  Once we get better athletes, Missouri's system won't foil us quite so much.  The spread as it's run at Mizzou and ku is all about out-athleting teams, which is why both teams such a disparity between how they play in regard to their opponents' athletic ability.  Anyways, I'm confident that by the time Bill steps down, we will still be challenging for North and Big 12 championships.

Nubb is slowly losing slash's players, what makes you think they'll keep getting better?

If you can't see that Missouri is the  (BIG) favorite next year in the North then you're crazy.  Nub will be better as well.  Pelini sees like light now on offense.  This worries me a great deal.

Just like kansas was a favorite this year?  You're giving those teams way too much credit (notice I didn't say programs).

I don't know about this?  :dunno: But the sad part is we were a middle of the pack D1 QB and maybe a competent D1 receiver from catching them this year.

I agree with the prevalent sentiment that we did better than expected this season, but I'm very disappointed we're not bowling....would have been a big step for the program.  :banghead: :banghead:

Tards and people who did no research thought ku was the favorite.  Nubb was clearly the fave this year, but a flukey loss to isu let us in the game.  We lost our oppy tonight.  I mean MV's aside our team was not very good this year, almost a mirror of the last two pre-retirement snyder teams.

One year ago we barely beat Iowa State at home to not be the worst team in the North. Now we are playing for a chance to win the division. Last year we were the 5th best team and now we are in reality third. ku and CU are going down, we are going nowhere but up. It sucks losing to the Roiders in Lincon, but in reality it was a great turnaround season and nice to play games that mattered late in the season.

ISU shouldn't have beat them, and Bradford would have made their record the same none the less.  It goes both ways.

Iowa State has just about caught us!  We barely beat them THIS year.
