Title: Prince tomorrow about CU...
Post by: The Manhatter on October 30, 2006, 09:58:46 PM
"they have an NFL QB, NFL DE, NFL, NFL, NFL and they are dominating on both sides of the line.  Hugh Charles would be All-American if...blah blah".

Any guesses on what Prince will say about the juggernaut that is CU?

He's just covering his ass.  The more he pumps up CU and everyone else, the better he can explain the loss.. though won't happen this week

 :hope:

'They got off to a rough start but they're really coming together now. One of the best defenses we'll see all year. If we're gonna win, we need to be B&D.'

"So there I was, me and two illegal Chinese immigrants who didn't speak a lick of English, in the bed of a 1974 Ford pick-up hitchhiking across southern New Mexico.  Although we couldn't verbally communicate with each other, as the three of us stared into each other's eyes we all knew what each other was thinking....that the peyote couldn't wear off quick enough."

Here's what we've heard so far from the Boulder Daily Camera:

  Prince on Charles
First-year Kansas State coach Ron Prince will match wits with Hawkins and his staff for the first time Saturday, and Prince made no secret of identifying the one Buff who has caught his attention most in early film study.
"I see Hugh Charles as being one of the most dynamic running backs that I've seen in some time, for sure this year," he said. "He reminds very much of Leon Washington from Florida State and Frank Gore and some of those kind of running backs that I've been seeing in the ACC here from Florida State and Miami. Not only does he have phenomenal speed, but he's a very strong runner and he has tremendous lateral quickness and contact balance. He's a major concern in the game along with some other guys."

   Notable
Prince said his team had its best week of practice of the season last week leading up to a victory over Iowa State. He said one of the Wildcats' goals this season has been to get to November with a chance to win the Big 12 North Division and earn a bowl trip. Both remain possible. ... The Nov. 11 CU home game against Iowa State will begin at 1 p.m. and will not be televised.

Here ya go:

Quote
“This week we have a significant challenge defensively. I think No. 2 (Hugh Charles) is the best running back that we’ve faced this year. He is somewhere in the combination with players that I’ve been familiar with recently – somewhere between Leon Washington of Florida State and Frank Gore of Miami. He is similar in style, in some ways, to Lee Suggs and Kevin Jones of Virginia Tech. He has that kind of talent, he’s tough, he can run between the tackles, and he has incredible speed if he can get to the edge. Defensively, they have No. 53 (Bryan Stengel) who, I think, is every bit of a player as Corey Moore and Dwight Freeney were in college. He has the kind of ability to rush the passer. He’s been an absolute terror on offensive tackles this year. Every game he’s just living in the backfield and if you don’t take great steps to deal with him, he’s the kind of player that can wreck the game. Our coaches feel that this might be the best set of linebackers that we’ve faced. As evidenced by where they sit – both Jordon Dizon and (Thaddaeus) Washington – in tackles in the conference is an indication of their abilities. These guys are physical, there’s no flaw in their game, they’ve been very difficult to run the ball against, and they are very effective as blitzers. Everybody knows about their kicker who might be the very best. He’s quite a weapon. Once he clears mid-court he’s got the green light to shoot and he can hit them from anywhere. If the ball is spotted anywhere on their side of the field, he can probably make it. To be able to go on the road and play well will do us a lot of good. In order to accomplish that, we’re going to have to practice well. We had a good practice yesterday and another good practice today will put us on the right path.”

Coach is the man.  He didn't disappoint one bit.  If he builds a winner, fans will grow to love it.  If not.....

I wonder if Hawkins is preparing to defend the bootleg this week?

Im not really sure what he is saying about CU leading up to the game, but after the game Im sure he is going to refer to his team as "pu$$es" call his players soft which is why they lost to a 1-8 CU team.

On the play of Logan Robinson...

“I didn’t even notice he went in until the second half. I guess he got in there early in the first quarter but he did a really good job.”
