And just hire Patterson right now.
Really, is there any way that Snyder is a more attractive as a head coach than GP at this point?
:dunno:
-
IMHO the waters have been calmed, decent recruiting class coming in; GP needs to come home and rule the Big 12 with an iron defense.
-
Yeah, the waters are as calm as they are going to be

I agree 100%. Should we go talk to him?

more like, is there any way GP is more attractive now than at any point?
"hello texas hs football recruit, my name is Gary, I made tcu incredible, I'm at KSU now. Yeah, you just sign right there. Yes, we'll have neat uniforms too. Thanks"
-
Is there any way we can leak "It's Patterson" to ku, cu, etc. articles to ensure he doesn't go to any of them?
-
Plus, when our old people fans get angry because he's not Bill he can just tell them he's from western KS and they'd be all :lightsaber:

has garypattersonpleasedon'tgotoku.com been taken?

Whoever is worrying about that, is an enormous powertard. Please leave this site if you are worried about ku hiring GP. GP leaving tcu for ku is laughable.

what about him leaving for Illinois? Or CU? Or someone else?
-
Got to admit.
Never really cared about Patterson, but if we hired him right this second, I'd feel pretty good.
-
I think now is the time . . . Bill's got a $150K a year lifetime job with the KSU AD to press the flesh and hob knob waiting for him. Plus Bill could still pick up some nice jack on the rubber chicken circuit since he's still got his wits about him.
Hell Bill . . . you might, just might get a call from ESPN, and prove to us once and for all that all of this, "I don't really pay any attention to that" stuff was as big a lie as we all know it was.
-
Why would Patterson come here right now? :frown:

Him going to IL or CU would be laughable as well. But, I could see him going to OU if offered the job.
-
I agree Pat. His mentor left tcu to Bama, I think if/when he leaves it will be a top ten type of program because he can ;) GP to ku is just laughable IMO

Are you conceding that GP is out of our league?
-
he wasn't a year ago

Rusty is 110% correct. Now is the ideal time. Waters calm, competing for division championship, don't have to worry about Snyder buyout, decent recruiting class coming in. We're running damn near identical offensive and defensive schemes to what he runs at tcu. There's no reason not to make this happen right now.
-
If he stays at tcu a couple more years I will be more convinced. I really don't know MC but I do doubt that Snyder came back for just one year either. I could possibly see him coming back in 2-3 years but as I have previously stated, I think the next coach is likely on staff already. Not overly pumped up at the prospect, but the program will be in a lot better shape than when we hired Prince.
-
Nuh uh he's ours.

You'll be convinced of what? That he's worthy of a KSU offer?
:dunno:
I could give two sh*ts about how many year Snyder intended on returning for, because I care about EMAW football, not the feelings of an old man.

i'm so sick and tired of the GP fans/bandwagoners on this board. the guy is a decent football coach but nothing spectacular.
some of you LowFBIQ kids need to realize that he's way overachieving against inferior competition and then throw in the fact that he's simply making a killing cleaning up all the UT/TAMU/TT/OU scraps on the recruiting trail and what you have is a very average football coach.

If he continued to do that at KSU, I would be happy.

Very average coach is our ceiling.

So you did not see those new uniforms? 80% of football is uniforms.

That's awesome that now is the perfect time for K-State to hire GP and all, but, uh, pretty sure GP would give us a big F YOU and then LOL in our faces if we tried. :'(
Why on earth would he come here now?

+1
Gary Patterson is the HOTTEST head coach in the country, no way he'll come back to KSU. We need to do what we've always done, let unnoticed people overachieve.

ya because coaching at K-State, with K-State type players, against teams like OU and UT is the same as coaching against the scrubs in tcu's conference

Catfan B, have you not watched your television news lately? Maybe you fell asleep on the couch but Coach Snyder is back in Manhappenen.

and when Coach Snyder brings back our old uni's we will have the best in the country again, so we're covered there as well.

mc by convinced I mean that if he doesn't bolt for a top program in the next 2-3 years and stays at tcu then maybe he still has interest in returning to his alma mater. I do not know how things went down, but where there is smoke, there is fire. Does he have hard feelings the way things went down? Idk that is why I said I will convinced he might still come here if he stays at tcu because let's face it, sooner or later he leave tcu for a BCS program. :kstatriot:

Snyder has a 5 year contract and so does GP. Lets have Snyder get this thing rollin and get some decent HS talent in the system for a few years and then let G-Pat take the thing over like he did for Fran at tcu.
There's a reason why he hasn't left tcu yet despite significant looks from Tennessee, Minnesota, and Clemson among others. The guys wants to be back in Manhattan, at his alma mater, near his aging parents, and near his former home.
He wanted to be here in 2005 and he wanted to be here last year. We have the administration now that actually has the 'nads to make it happen.
-
Yep just might work out, Snyder stays at KSU another 2-3 minimum so the longer GP stays at tcu the better odds he comes back IMO.

Agree, and despite what some of our fans think, I'm not entirely convinced GP could build a program like ours from the bottom up the way Snyds can.
Give the guy a winning program, with a solid, young stable of talent and I think GP could keep this thing running for the next 10+ years, though.

Hey, I've got a better way to figure out whether or not he's truly interested in coming back: It's called picking up a telephone and telling him the job is his if he wants it (using proper channels, of course). The only downside to this is we might have an unfair advantage over other BCS schools that want to wait 2-3 years to offer him the job.

hey Catfan B, I've got a way to figure out whether or not Currie's truly interested in having GP come back: It's called picking up the telephone and asking him if he wants to hire GP
LOL @ michiapplescatsy  SACRE BLEU!

You've must have more pull than I do dude, I just buy my 4 season tickets and attend the games. I will leave those decisions to the AD myself.

hey pissant don't get me started on recruiting. I think it is the biggest waste of time and energy spent on these boards but I digress. Seems like every hotshot 5* recruit we ever signed was a bust and yet Snyder and Osbourne built programs with players that fit into their programs, most were 3* types. If Newton wants to come here then we will see how great he is but I myself would prefer a 3* HS QB that will be in the system for 4-5 over a 2 year player that takes 1/2 to 3/4 of his first year to figure the system and then has his senior year.
Honestly was Ell a better QB for KSU than Bishop? I say yes 1 big 12 championship to zero. Bishop was a great talent but JC QB's are a stop gap, short term fix. I have no clue about Newton do you pissant? Have you seen him play? How many hours of game film have you watched of him? Hmmmm? Recruiting services are never wrong though right? Riiiiiiiiight. Remember Marc Dunn? He was a 5* JC QB recruit we signed, I bet if you watched his 5-6 minutes clips presented by the recruiting services you would be saying we just singed John Freaking Elway :ugh:
Like I say I am pretty much done with recruiting. It bores me and I will trust the staff in signing players that will help our program win football games in the future because they actually do watch hours and hours of boring game film to find talent.
-
I can fully see Rusty's angle on this . . . the bad thing I don't think our new administration has the equity built up yet to make it happen. If K-State doesn't win Sat. Night and so that means no bowl game, I personally say go for it . . . but it won't happen.
The mu game was a real eye opener for me, because that was a crap gameplan by the offensive staff, and I fear more of the same in the future as OB squeezes his angst ball over and over trying to get that running game started against a team that's absolutely stuffing it . . . 2.6 YPC . . . and 43 rushing attempts, GTFOMFWTS . . . who the hell are you Woody F'ing Hayes??
