Title: Heard of the Tower of Tim?
Post by: CrazyCat on October 30, 2006, 11:30:12 AM
I guess there are going to build a tower between the press box and bram.  Tim said our stadium is boring and needs character, thus the tower.  Connecting the press box with bram will come with a KSU sports hall of fame, a bigger cats closet, escalators to the bram and tunnels to the field seats of BSFS.   Not sure when but soon.

What's the purpose of it (aside from Weiser spending more money that could otherwise be used to line the pockets of important recruits' family and friends)?

I heard the tower is going to be in the shape of a KATPAK golf head cover.  To scale, of course.

Can this be moved to the "bold and daring" forum?

Very relevant FB discussion.

The Tower of Tim's upper levels will be used to plan Tim's various hunting trips.

The weird thing is if they do that, they're also going to put in a huge new tower in the Jardine Redevlopment.

So to eliminate the boringness of BSFS we're going to build a random tower that connects the out-of-place Bram to the run down west side.

There are two towers actually, not just one.  Both towers will provide much better Championship Caliber Lighting  (CCL)to BSFS.

Below is an HOK artists's rendition of the planned build out.

The intimidation factor alone should be worth a free fieldgoal for every game.

If you climb to the top of the giant Katpaks... you'll find salsa, chips and nacho cheese.

I understand they'll totally overhaul the West Side Concourse of the Stadium so it won't be "dated" anymore.

Can anyone confirm whether or not they will be using fur on the outside of the proposed structure and, if so, what material the fur will be made out of (assuming it's not real wildcat fur)?

I wonder if they'll hide orcs in the upper level, or a giant eye.

Or maybe they'll go old-school and put a minataur in there.

I heard that there will be a minotaur roaming in the basement of each tower.  FWIW this is only a rumor I can't provide a link..

Seriously ... I've heard the Athletic Department was considering building Condo's somewhere around the Sports Complex ... so the "tower" just might be the condos.  You might be able to buy a condo that overlooks the stadium, and connects to Bramlage.

That would be silly.  Anyone who hasn't bought a duplex @ Colbert, one of the Highrises in Aggieville, the new ones 400 yards from the stadium is not Russian oil baron rich enough to plop down enough for a highrise over the stadium.

This sounds like "string-tie roof Olympic Stadium Montreal"-ish.

I think it would be pretty sweet.  I'll bet there's still plenty of money out there for a project like this to sell out pretty quickly.

Which part?  People already spend an ungodly amount just to park close to the game.  Can you imagine how much cash someone would shell out to freaking roll out of bed and into the stadium?

I think you severely underestimate the amount of KSU grads with high amounts of disposable income.  Selling 30 or so units, even at 500k wouldn't be a huge stretch.

I know of a couple KSU grads that could afford something like that easily...if I know a couple, there would be plenty of potential buyers.

There's 12-14 groups waiting for skyboxes, there's a waiting list to get the courtside seats in Bramlage at $4,200 a pop, and they wouldn't be putting suites in Bramlage next year if they didn't already have them pretty much sold.   So selling condos isn't that far out of the question.  It was just an idea they were bouncing around.

Here's what I understand will be done for sure as far as facilities go by next year.  Suites in Bramlage, overhaul of of the lower stadium bowl, replacing the wooden bleachers and replacing the steel railings on the field level and putting in a decorative limestone wall.

The expansion of Westside of Bramlage, overhaul of the West Concourse of the football stadium and practice b-ball gym may happen by next year ... but likely won't be started until next year sometime.

I'm quite interested to see what they come up with to expand the west side of Bramlage.  Everything I've heard about it is encouraging...and much needed (in terms of the ticket offices, a HOF, etc..)...
